Annual Doc Visit Today - Good News Bad News

So I had my annual physical today. Typical at first, 10lbs over weight, slightly high cholesterol should eat/drink less and exercise more. Being 41, it’s time for the ol prostate exam.

Good news, my doc is a 30yr old Indian hottie with small hands and a great sense of humor.

“If you could just turn on your side I have to examine your prostate now.” Sliding a finger into the darkness.

“Geez doc, I guess this is why you get paid the big bucks…oooh!”

“Not nearly enough…yep, enlarged prostate.”

“Doesn’t that produce seminal fluid, no wonder why my ejaculate is so massive! That plus the third gonad makes me a real production force!”

“What ever makes you feel good about other deficiencies…” as she slips her fingers out. She looks over my records.
“Looks like you need a Tetanus booster as well…”

“A shot? Your just saying that cuz of my wise crack right?”

“Mike, I had my hand up you butt and it didn’t seem to faze you, you really think that I think a shot is going to rattle you? I’ll see you in 6 months” She says.

“Lets make it 3, I could use the attention”

“Split the dif and make it four and a half, I have a boat to pay for!”

Bad news, now I have to take these alpha blockers for, well, ever. I know, it could be so much worse but the Prostate? Man I’m feeling old!

Get in the gym dude. Your way to young to be falling apart like this. How hard is it to work out 3 times a week? That's all it would take to make a huge difference.

Mike,

Did you get a PSA test done at the same time? Need to get one done so you have a baseline set for the readings in the future. Usually men do not have prostrate issues until 50 or so.

If you did not like the exam you had, it could be worse. While getting a flight exam for a pilots license in Europe we had the same thing. Problem is that they want to check the UPPER part of the prostrate with their hand. Its not the same as checking the lower part like we do here in the states and its not fun. Course its better than cancer...

Now hold on cowboy, I didn't say I didn't like it, at least she has small hands and a great sense of humor...plus she is ever so easy on the eyes! Add a few beers and some wings and it would have made for a pretty good date!

CC: I was told the alpha blocker targets certain receptor sites on various organ's blood vessels to reduce the swelling. Thyey are used for treating hypertension and high blood pressure. My BP has been 120/70 for 30+ years - rock solid.

As far as working out, reduce my eating/drinking goes, I can absolutley 100% agree. Will I do it? Most likely not. I have to be honest and this is what I told the doc, I may try to be good for a few weeks heck even a few months but I am rather lazy and stupid and will look to take the easy way out when ever possable. If she said "Mike, do this or you will die!" then I would give it an honest try. The thing is, I'm not that bad...yet.

Welcome to the club. Of course, I'm 56, so an enlarged prostate is less of a surprise. Alpha blockers didn't work with me, but I don't find the symptoms to be that big an annoyance.

I guess you have to keep that rascle to a desent size or less it can squeeze the urethra (sp) and you may not empty you bladder entirely and find your self dribbl'n in your shorts or taking forever pizzing.

I am not sure if there is a relationship to prostate cancer and and enlarged prostate. Any ideas?

Guys,
Alpha blockers for the Lubester are used to help bladder emptying (assuming he has symptoms). They do have BP effects at higher doses than commonly used for prostatism, but are not 1st, 2nd, or 3rd line agents for BP control (a number of other issues).

Lubester.... way too much info there buddy!

Vash find you a piano/voilin playing MD w/long skinny fingers. Or else....

Welcome to the "prostate the size of a canteloupe" crowd.

My doctor is now one of my drummers. That's scarey! No other drummer in my life has EVER gotten that close to my ass! We joke about it all the time. A bass player that has let a drummer stick his finger up his ass......well maybe in SOME bands. Life is cruel. At least you have a female doctor..that makes it "somewhat" more normal.

I showed up for a flight one day after stopping by the flight doc's office for my 'every 6 month' exam on the way to work. Halfway to the east coast the guy I was flying with said he was always more relaxed after he passed his medical. I joked about 'me too..'. He had been to the same doc 20 minutes before me, and had gotten the same exam as me.

We thought about this for second, and both simultaneously starting laughing out loud. The FA walked into the cockpit at that point, both pilots crying they are laughing so hard, and there was no way were going to share the joke.

Michael.

Jeezus, Tabs, you're killing your biggest fan!

Seriously, think how amazing you would feel if you even lost 50lbs. Right now it is like you are carrying around 100+lbs. of cement w/ you everywhere you go! Soft cement, but none the less, it's a lot of weight. Too bad that carrying extra weight doesn't give you extreme excercise, never understood that one.

You would feel like 10 million buckaleros if you lost that weight. You would restore that early S and start cruising for decommissioned show girls, everyone on the boards would be saying, "what ever happened to Tabs? He never posts any more."
