Anyone want a brand new '69 Camaro?

This amazing; it's a re-manufactured 1969 Camaro that is actually better than new in certain regards, such as the paint and build quality. (I have loved the looks of these cars since they were new, but the QC was nothing to write home about back then).

Wonder what it will fetch? Or more succinctly, what it would take to buy it?

Any other '69 Camaro fans here?

Loved that model. Friend of mine had one and ran out of time (brain cancer) and money before he got it restored. Always hoped to see it on the street and rumbling like they used to...

Can new Yenkos be far behind?

The resurrection of the Baldwin-Motion name, and their plans to introduce at SEMA this fall a limited run of slightly enhanced '69's (540 CI, all aluminium 600hp, tube frame) was also announced this week. I'm sure they'll sell all they can make in the current muscle market insanity.

Someone was telling me that the best performing commodity, hands down, in the last 10 years has been American Muscle cars. He then told me the percentage rise, which I don't remember, but it was like 1200%.

Of course you have to define "muscle cars", it is like talking about specific stocks as opposed to *all old cars* being like the entire stock market. But anyone knowledgable knows which cars we are talking about, ie. big blocks/SS models/hemi or 6-pack mopars, etc...

That first one is just a thorough restoration. There are a bunch of those running around.

Personally I'd rather have a '67 w/302, 396, or 427 and a manual trans. Automatic, yuck.

Imagine, not only do you not really take corners, but your driving experience in a straight line is diminished because you just mash the throttle. SHeesh, at least let me shift the thing.

I have a 69 Camaro factory SS-396 and Im a big fan. Im a bigger Porsche fan but the Camaro is really fun too.

Yeah, it's just a 350 automatic, but it's a nice everyday driver car that looks good. Did you notice that it has A/C, etc.? There are other variations that are more performance oriented, and of course modified enthusiast or race cars that can even go around corners. Sometimes even beat up on heavily prepped 911s:

[ OK, how do I post a video (WMV file) on a thread here? Anyone? TIA.]

I picked one up as a teenager in 1974 that looked like this one, except without the cowl-induction hood. Very clean, excellent paint, for $1,800. Noticed the carpeting was kinda loose, and upon pulling it back noticed where a roll cage had been mounted. Checked the numbers, and it was a 283. But whoever built it knew what they were doing. I stayed ahead of a friend's 1970 Z-28 350 w/4.11 gears with my 3.73s...

If it is off a website, you simply link using the "IMG" tags...if you want to host, Jeff Grant could probably help you out.

I'd like to see this thing perform.

$76,000...Over $100,000 on that SpeedChannel auction, Barrett-Jackson...Damn, wish I was rich, always wanted a '69 something or other muscle car.

10-15 years ago there was a company somewhere in the mid-west that was remanufacturing old cars into muscle car clones. They would take a solid body Tempest -for example- drop a crate 350 into it with appropriate transmission, disk brakes, and repaint / upholstery / badges into a GTO. Nice idea. Anyone know if they are still around?

targa911S 08-19-2005 06:12 AM

OMG! I had that identical car in 1969! I paid full window sticker for it off the showroom floor. It was $3,600.00! Bad ass car. Scarey fast. Could not keep rear tires on it. One day it just caught fire and burned to the ground. The engine still lives to this day in a chopped 1934 Ford sedan in Ohio.

a 69 Z28 is my favorite car in the world. it is actually my dream "barn find". with an early S a close second.

RANDY P 08-19-2005 08:23 AM

It's not an SS. There's no such thing as a single leaf spring SS car.

It's a real pretty fake. I'm pretty sure the valve covers are wrong too. Bidding is crazy stupid right now.

Would be fun to buy this crate body and have at it. With some of the suspension upgrades available, crate motor, etc, could make a pretty neat car.
