Auto tranny drain/filter service question

So the potential girlfriend has a 2004 PT Cruiser with an automatic tranny. 36,000 miles on it, and she says the transmission isn't shifting well, and it won't accelerate well.

I suspect it seriously needs to have the fluid and filter changed.

What should this service cost at some chain shop like, say Jiffy Lube, or at the dealer?

aamco has a $29.00 special for just fluid currently. i would imagine another $30 for filter?

james brolin is from texas right? there must be aamco's there then?

or you could do it and show her how good you can be with your hands and tools. then she owes you one. nudge, nudge, wink, wink!

I'd do it myself, for sure, but I just don't know how. :P

I'm sure it's not that hard at all, I just have no experience doing it.
