gun people .. I got a ??? Glock 9x19

my Ma has a Glock 9mm ( 9x19 ) and she is getting rid of it ( selling to a cop supplier )
Anyway, its a few years old, never fired, no resedue or anything. The thing is spotless.

She has been told it's only worth $500 and that is what they are giving her ..
Is she gettin ripped off.

Thanks in advance
Don

IMHO -

Nope. There's a huge surplus of Glocks. I can't speak for CA but if that's what they were to offer me straight out or as a trade I'd be all over it.

Around here 9 MM Glock used of any variety barely fetches that on a retail level..

$500 for a used (pre-owned, even if unfired) Glock is pretty high -- MSRP for a G17 is $599. I'd take the money.

What are the hi-cap magazines worth these days? I have a G17 with the two original pre-ban magazines that has had 100 rounds through it. Any idea what this is worth? Thanks.

There is no longer a ban, so, not $90 like they used to be. http://www.texastacticalgear.com/index.php?crn=128&rn=364&action=show_detail&PHPSESSID=ff5d3e4ee5f191f5752b9fc2cb8e330e

Here's my set up, Glock 23 with a Galco Miami Vice holster.

On the national level there is no such thing as a pre ban any more, because there is no longer a ban on high cap magazines. It went away when the silly "Scary Black Rifle" ban expired September 13th, 2004. When the ban went away, the prison-lovin' prices for high-cap magazines went with it. Without looking all that hard, I found new factory G17 mags for $25.

Some states have their own ban though, for example in California you can own >10 round maazines (that you owned before the state ban), but can't buy any more, or transfer them (except to a licensed dealer or out of the state).

Does anybody else think it's completely ludicrous that I can (and do) have five 10rd G23 mags...but I can't legally buy even one "high" er normal capacity mag? Who makes up this sheeet anyway?!?!? I wish they would just fix our damn roads and schools and stop telling us what we can or can't buy with our own effin money.

DOH!!! I bought one about 12 years ago for $350, but the Sherrif took it away for being an idiot. That was an expensive lesson, but I got the charges dropped.

Tabs,

You are close but some of us do not want to spend $3000 for a pistol. At least you are talking about a .45 auto and not some sissy 9mm!

Drago's got it - if his custom .45's are as nice as his car, they must be sweet.

LOL, tabs I'm not a huge fan of the tupperware either but the G23 is a relatively cheap and highly-reliable home defense unit. Frankly I find it kind of unpleasant to shoot as well.

I'm not really into the C&R antiques either, although they are neat to see or read about; more interested in the quality 'modern' semiautos or revolvers. Latest add to my tiny newbie collection is a S&W PC 627-5 (".357 Magnum 8 Times") which is not extraordinarily pretty but built like a tank, accurate, and very pleasant to shoot. An M1 or M1A is next on the list and will be on the hunt for a S&W Model 29 after that.
