67 vette BB vert to 540CI/675HP monster

I was asked to start this thread to chronicle the changeover of my original 67 BB vert to a 540CI/675 Hp Shafiroff ultrastreet 5 spd trans monster daily driver. I will update after Carlisle, probably Monday. See 911 technical thread "I drove a z06" for initial statements.

Best regards,
Gerry

So, no mods to make this swap? Meaning a regular bolt-in, not much problem returning to "original" when/if you choose to?

675 hp is a mild BB. It should be very streetable with good driveability. Trans & rear end should not be an issue. Tell us about the plans. Carb or FI? Tremec? Suspension?

Sounds like a fun car.

67 vette BB to 540

There is no such thing as a no problem hot rod swap but there was no cutting or things done that can't be put back to original status. I don't think I would be the one to do that, probably one of my heirs or if prices go to atrostupid levels.

The trans is a keisler TKO 600 5 spd with .64 5th , HP driveshaft and HP clutch package. The engine is the shafiroff 540 ultrastreet (Mighty demon 950 cfm carb) check out their website at www.shafiroff.com for details. The rear end still has to be completed. I have carbon fiber halfshafts, racing struts, HD offset trailing arms, 420 Lb monospring, Bilstein autocross shocks, Aluminum cross fram bushings, driveshaft and halfshaft loops, HD cover, spicer u-joints. Need upper six link kit, ultra HD ring and pinion, HD side yokes, bigger wheels and drag radials. Perhaps a full 12 bolt set of guts for the IRS would be better or better yet a ford 9 ", I heard someone is making this setup.

Right now this car is awesome [B] but excellent drivability. Your grandmother could drive it, if she could push the clutch, and she didn't put her foot in it. If you do then you have to shift NOW. Really, it just melts the tires, going to need work to get it to hook even OK. Still it scares the hell out of everyone. Lots of FUN.

Drive it like you stole it,
Gerry

PS will post pics after Carlisle.
