Question The rise of survivalism?

I can't help but think that civilized society across the U.S. is taking a hard look at what's going on down south and beginning to doubt the speed and efficacy with which law enforcement would protect them in the event of an emergency.

I wonder if there are any good resources for soft, overcivilized, Porsche driving suburbanites who are starting to think about angry mobs wandering by in the aftermath of a natural disaster, terrorist attack, or anything else that distracts law enforcement for a few days.

And until that time, it might be a good idea to see which public companies are best positioned to benefit from this likely phenomenon.

Does NOBODY remember the 1992 LA RIOT.....that was when POlice Chief Gates told the LAPD to stand down...to let the citizens see what happens when they are not around to keep the people in their place....

I woulda thought Gun Control would be a dead issue after seeing what happened in 1992...but noooo.....

Shotgun for the home and a glock for when I go cycling and those tards in suv's with W stickers try to run me off the road. I'm starting to think the 9mm isn't going to give me enough stopping power and its time to step up to a .45

Jon: Is it the gangs from Philly you are worried about, or the Amish coming to take over once the lights go out?? You will be playing by their rules then and it wont be a fair fight!

Certainly the people with the most to fear would be the "house on the hill" situations bordering iffy areas, where the poor folks know that's where the money is.

A local example: when I had an apt. in Chestnut Hill (part of Philly, very nice but just a mile or two from some serious slums) there were constant problems with bad guys coming out to mug people and rob houses, since Chestnut Hill was a very visable area of wealth. In a crisis, it would be first on the hit list.

It's like the nice houses in New Orleans. All the scumbags know where they are and I'd be surprised if any of those houses were left untouched.

Thank goodness for the Second Amendment and broad based revenge fantasies based on generations of B movies.

I for one am scared of the un-dead. Brooklyn is full of them and they will rise as the gas runs out...

Sounds like you live in a movie man. I can't imagine being that scared all the time, but then I don't choose to live in Chicago. Is it really that dangerous?

You can get further with a kind word and a gun than you can with just a kind word.
