Red Cross Apparently Barred from Superdome by LA gvmt!
As if we needed any more evidence of how the LA state and local "authorities" blew it!

Oh my.......
"According to Hugh Hewitt, Major Garrett of Fox News is reporting that the Red Cross "had prepositioned water, food, blankets and hygiene products for delivery to the Superdome and the Convention Center in the immediate aftermath of the hurricane, but were blocked from delivering those supplies by orders of the Louisiana state government, which did not want to attract people to the Superdome and/or Convention Center." |
Stoopid Bush shoulda had cruise missles ready to take out anyone who stood in the way of the Red Cross.
. . .but of course, we all know that Bush didn't, 'cuz Bush hates blacks . .er poor blacks. |
and Bush is a drunk/drug addict.....
|
OMG, you honestly are this gullible to believe this?

Saturday, September 03, 2005 By Ann Rodgers, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "As the National Guard delivered food to the New Orleans convention center yesterday, American Red Cross officials said that federal emergency management authorities would not allow them to do the same. Other relief agencies say the area is so damaged and dangerous that they doubted they could conduct mass feeding there now. "The Homeland Security Department has requested and continues to request that the American Red Cross not come back into New Orleans," said Renita Hosler, spokeswoman for the Red Cross. "Right now access is controlled by the National Guard and local authorities. We have been at the table every single day [asking for access]. We cannot get into New Orleans against their orders." Calls to the Department of Homeland Security and its subagency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, were not returned yesterday." - but Bush hates black people |

"Access to New Orleans is controlled by the National Guard and local authorities and while we are in constant contact with them, we simply cannot enter New Orleans against their orders. The state Homeland Security Department had requested--and continues to request--that the American Red Cross not come back into New Orleans following the hurricane. Our presence would keep people from evacuating and encourage others to come into the city." Shall I continue? |
And then there's this from my original post...
A Red Cross official, Carol Miller, said on NPR's Diane Rehm show this morning that the Red Cross was told not to provide aid at the Superdome by the Louisiana, not U.S., Department of Homeland Security. Audio here: http://www.wamu.org/programs/dr/ (click link on left side of page) the comment is about 35:40 into the show. |

Did you read your first posting? The story ended with
"Calls to the Department of Homeland Security and its subagency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, were not returned yesterday." Now, I wonder why the writer of that story would be interested in input from FEMA and DHS...? |

If you guys really want to know some of what is going on down there, I am working with some other aviation types to send aid to NO, and pick up people and bring them out to Phoenix. Several airplanes took aid materials down to the airports there and it was either refused by FEMA or confiscated. We believe that this has been corrected at this time but... FEMA and the state is going to have a lot of explaining to do before this is over... JoeA |

Do you think the reporter was just an idiot or do you think he was trying to muddy the water to imply that it is somehow the evil Bush's fault...Because he hates poor black people? Clearly if the Governor has not relinquished control to the feds...they cannot call the shots. So if she wants the Red Cross out...they stay out. |

This ain't complicated: The Louisiana National Guard, under authority of the Louisiana GOVERNOR, and the STATE Department of Homeland Security prohibited access by the Red Cross. Read the Red Cross website (http://www.redcross.org/faq/0,1096,0_682_4524,00.html). There is nothing in there about "Calls" to anyone... |
