creating a convert

So one of my coworkers has a 19 year old son taking the automotive tech classes here at the CC...

Almost sterotypically, he drives a Honda Civic with the fart can. Not really riced out - yet.

Just took him for a lunch time drive in my mom's '84 911 TL. Interstate on-ramps with 270 degree curves "at speed" really opened his eyes, as did really getting on it in 3rd to 4th.

He acknowledges that he'd end up dead or in jail now, but I encouraged him to start saving his nickles and maybe in 10 years or so....

$5.50 a day for 10 years get you $20,000. Time to start brown bagging lunch and eating PBJs!

He'll have an all-consuming hobby and no money, plus he can join in on the wonderful political discourse here on Pelican:D .

It worked for me. Grew up in Dad's Jag and rode on a few motorcycles as a kid. Have just what I wanted in the garage now... still looking for the 250 Ferarri though...

JoeA, I've wanted a Jag ever since my brother came home from 'Nam with a '63 Mk II sedan. What a cool car that was!
