Opinions On John Roberts?

I'm sure some here have listened to nominee John Roberts' testimony to the Senate or otherwise followed it in the news.

Any opinions, thoughts, comments? This man is likely to be an important force in your life for the next 20 to 30 years.

I'll share mine later.

Well, my thought is that the President nominated a very high quality judge who is conservative but, as far as one can tell, is neither an extreme conservative nor some other sort of doctrinare ideologue. I am not displeased with Judge Roberts.

He seems like a professional, intelligent jurist. I think people are misinterpreting his 'conservative' views. Being a strict constitutional constructionist does not nessecarily make you a neo con social conservative.

I think Bush made a solid choice.

Same here, I've started looking for some of his previous writings, and they are just as impressive. Him, one mind and no notes, beating the snot out of all of those senators who had notes, aides, etc.. Very impressive, I don't care who you are.

I think the democrats on the panel have done an outstanding job of making themselves seem stupid, manipulative and their aims on this panel transparent. If some don't understand what they're doing, they have to be blind. I particularly liked it when Roberts told Kennedy he had misrepresented his position. I have also watched the news for clips of the dems badgering him. Haven't seen any. I wonder why???

He won't legislate from the bench.

The failure of the far left in attaining enough legislative support for many their policies since the 1930's pushed them into the judge picking and manipulation game as the only way to hustle their agenda. Fine.. it was successful.

Roberts may be philosophical final step in the court retreating to what the founders expected from it? It's all Bush's fault.

He'll pass overwhelmingly. The Dems want to look reasonable so that they can go ape-***** on Bush's next nominee.
