UPS horror story

Got one?

I ordered a computer online. When it arrived I heard the UPS truck out front. Before I could get the door open I saw the guy reaching over the fence and toss the box in the yard. I ran out front screaming "Its a computer, What are you doing?"

I have ordered two windshields for my 74' 911. Both have arrived broken. One by UPS and the other by USPS.

Talked to a UPS guy at work outside behind his truck. Saw a nice plasma tv box on the floor of the truck. I commented" Couldn't you loose that one. he he he" he said "you dont want this. It has fallen off the shelf twice already this morning."

I have had a lot of problems with UPS and they know me personally at the hub here. I just take it back and hand it to them and say "bring it back when it works" and so far it has. Their insurance costs have to be extremely high...

FedEx Ground is worse BTW...

My 9th grade math teacher used to work for UPS. He told us stories about how they just used to toss the packages in/out of the truck. He said that there were times when he would hear something break!

I am told Do not put fragile on packages. This makes them vulnerable.

Here is a review I found:
UPS to Mexico Horror Story

If they screw up, you're screwed

Full Review
My son lost his car keys in Mexico, and I went to my local UPS store to send him an extra car key. They told me and printed that it would take 2-3 business days. After the parcel got into Mexico, it turns out that the destination was determined a remote area, and the delivery would take two weeks. I tried to recall the package, but it got tied up in Mexican customs. Moral of the story is that we ended up having the car towed out of Mexico, which is another story in itself, $1200 later, and I got a "read your UPS Terms and Conditions", thank you very much from UPS.

A little bit lighter in the wallet.

Being an avid black powder target shooter, I order black powder by the case. For those of you non-gun types, "black powder" is the old-style gunpowder that predates modern "smokeless" powders. Smokeless powder is classified by the DOT as a class C flameable solid; in other words, very safe to handle and transport. Black powder, on the other hand, is a class A explosive. It can detonate from friction, impact, static electricity, etc.

I was home, in the garage with the door open one day, when the UPS truck pulled up. Our local driver looks like the blonde above, but I digress... Anyway, she jiggles her way up the driveway, says "hi, I have a package for you" and since I was laying under the 911 I told her to leave it on the front porch (great view, by the way, but I digress again...). So she tosses it from the bottom step. A full case; 25 pounds of black powder. I couldn't believe she threw it that far. Unbelievable. The box is literally covered in warning labels. I wonder just what 25 pounds of black powder would do if it went off on my doorstep...

I think it all depends on the driver.

The Fed-ex guys here suck. Leave stuff in plain view of the street. A few times they said the attempted delivery but didn't (my office overlooks the street and front door).

The UPS guys OTOH put everything on the back porch, note any damage, and are always on time...

I went to a friend's house (yes, I do have a few few) and while waiting for him, we noticed a UPS package on the door step, with warning lables, and big RED Customer must sign for, DO NOT LEAVE unsigned, just sitting, on his porch, on a very busy street, next to a historic (I.E walking) comunity, very easy to see. Boy, was he ticked when he found out they were there when we got there, as he is a gun guy and this was AR 15 ammo
