ashamed of being somewhat German

I'm ashamed of my heritage today, seems one of the parties(don't care which one ) is using a poster that shows US flag draped coffins in a C130, with a caption of "she would have sent our soldiers". What makes it really hard..is my ultra German family members are coming for a visit..
maybe my dogs will piss on them when they start to spout social bull****.
.side-note. ? which city has the most Porsche cars (hint not in the US)

Rika,

Lived there for over 10 years and there are good people in every country.

When I was renewing my residence and working permits in Berlin years ago I had to stand in line then wait for what totaled almost 4 hours. As I was the only medivac pilot on duty, if an emergency came up it got difficult.

I mentioned this in my poor German to the gent working on my papers and he straightened up and in very good English said "you saved us from the Russians. Here is my personal phone number and the next time your paperwork needs renewal call me and it will be done promptly." He then went on to say that some of his family had also been medivac'ed to the hospital by our helo, and that this was the least he could do for us.

When you meet people like the gent above you wonder how in the world there is ever any conflict between countries, but then you round a corner and find someone else who is totally different.

Some of my best friends in all the world are Germans and I would do anything to help them, as I hope they would for me.

Just do the best you can and move forward.

Tchuss,

Joe A

Ya, the Germans disappoint me and my heritage quite frequently...I will never understand how such a people could be led in the direction of socialism so easily.

Because 70 years ago, we went the total opposite of socialism, and look where that led...

National Socialist Worker's Party...Yes, I know well where that led.

It was no free-market and it was not Christian.

Rika,

Just remind them that they could be speaking Russian now and that usually settles them down a lot. Second choice is they could be speaking French and IMHO that would be worse.

Give it a chance and see how it goes. They can always stay in a hotel and you can go out and play in the 911 if it goes sour.

I spent my touir in Germany...and I suspect a lot fewer Germans think that way than not. The jerks just get all the press...like the liberals.... Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan do here. But at election time...it is clear where most of the country stands.

Well ladies and gentlemen, the German way just changed a bit! First East German was elected into a high post today!

With the high taxes, unemployment, they have to do something. Hope that they get back on their feet and soon.

The coffin thing must have been Schroeder's party. The new gal has repairing ties with Washington on her list of objectives. Could be good...

Unfortunately, she didn't get enought votes to assure her as Chancellor. She'll have to align herself with some pretty unholy characters in the Social(ist) Democrats before she can oust Schroeder.... I think Germany will have to self-destruct further before there is enough anger to throw the socialists out for good.
