Bush hates dumb, poor single moms who have smoke detectors.

It helps if they shave the Bush....then U don't have to worry about bugs in the Bush

That'll go over well:

"Hello, I'm here from the Upper Class Ladies Society for Promoting Personal Hygiene Among the Less Fortunate. Since you live in a trailer, we've prepared a gift basket with razors, cold cream, delousing powder, and an industrial deodorizer. Please don't take this the wrong way..." :D

Hopefully safety will always outweight being politically correct. The problem is most won't install the batteries or install the detectors. Sad but true. :(

dhoward 09-20-2005 01:02 PM

But they will go off when the box catches fire....

Used to have a rental on the beach in Ventura, and every other year, I'd have to go and buy a bunch of batteries for the smoke detectors, which the tenant would disconnect when the batteries got low and started beeping. And he had two little kids as well. I finally bought the 10 lithium battery detectors. The guy was paying me over 2 grand/mo and couldn't buy batteries for the smoke detector, or even bother to call me.

The National Fire Protection Association recommends changing your detector batteries every year when you set your clocks back in the Fall. I do, every year.

dhoward 09-20-2005 04:05 PM

2 grand a month!
No wonder he couldn't afford batteries!
:D

Hugh R 09-20-2005 04:52 PM

2 grand/month on the Beach (well three houses off the beach) in Ventura is/was dirt, dirt cheap. Average rent in Los Angeles for an 1,500 sq. ft. house in surburbia in an old, old neighborhood is more than that.

dhoward 09-20-2005 04:57 PM

Just joking Hugh.
That's why I live in the Midwest!
:)

Oh I see how it is, its pitch $hit on the poor, fat, dumb guy who lives in a mobile home?

Well if you were all born poor and dumb you would see how it was.

I'll take one of those free smoke detectors.

Its not an assumption, its a statistic. By the way, do you live in a mobile home? If not, why are you being offended for someone else?

Dude, it's free - never turn down free when you are broke. Bet some of the more enterprising capitalist will gather up as many smoke detectors as they can (by means you don't want to know about) and sell them to rich folks- door to door. I could use an extra smoke detector with fresh batteries not chocolate bars and magazines.
