Pilsner Urquell, or anchor steam
|
I'm not generally fond of yellow beer. Maybe on a hot day if the beer is really cold.
|
The colder, the better.
|
I can handle a couple of these ridiculous microbrews but you're full like you ate 24 oz steak from Morton's afterwards.
There is no way I would reach for a Long Trail or whatever after mowing the lawn. I want cold and crisp. NARRAGANSETT - It's back! I know the guy who bought the rights to it from Pabst. New red/white cans, better flavor, now brewed in NY at the same facility as Sam Adams. If you are a RI or Mass native, surely you've ha a Gansett in the past. Be sure to pick up a 6 pack ASAP. :) |
Plain old simple Guiness Stout from the tap please...

Nowadays I'll take a Yuengling or a plain old MGD |
Three way tie!!

Rather than the fru/fru breweries that have popped-up all over, some good beers are:(1)Yoengling, from Pottstown,Pa., the nations oldest brewery,I believe they say, or(2)good-old Iron City, from Pittsburgh,Pa:or(3)Rolling Rock, from somewhere,Pa.;or lastly,(4)LaBatts Blue Pilsner. All theabove are larger scale refineries with tasteful beers, unlike most American beers which have turned into watered-down tasteless brews to appease the masses.Just my$.02.
|
Yuengling is great...I used to date a girl whose family lived between pittsburgh and cleveland...Quaker Steak and Lube for Wings and Yuengling on draft.
**** I miss the wings n beer + her dad's badass vintage dirt bike collection more than I could ever miss her. |
My favorite beer is "cold" followed closely by "free" but when they are combined to make a "free cold beer", now that is truly heaven!!http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

Nein 11,
piece of useless trivia for you. The red triangle used by Bass Brewing was the first registered trade mark in England. Cheers, Paul. |

Olde Frothingslosh.........mmmmm
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1127531019.jpg Just kidding, although I did have a can for a while. I'll take mine in a medium dark color lighter than motor oil and darker than the regular stuff. Cold is a must. A frosty mug is even better. |

White87911,
Great quote from "Glengarry Glen Ross"!! |
|
Stijn,
You have good taste in beer! Duvel, Corsendonk and Le Fin du Monde are among my favorite Belgians (Belgian style)! |
October is almost here!..........
And that means Octoberfest! Nothing is better for me than a nice cold mug of octoberfest. The german tradition is a good one. The local watering troughs are putting octoberfests on their taps for the month already. Good thing this only comes around once a year or I'd indulge to excess 365 days a year. KB |

if you like Duvel , then see if you can find Schouf , or Piraat those aren't bad either |
My wife and I want to do one of the trappist monk beer tours of Belgium. That would be great.
|
Some fine tastes here, my favourites are the German Pilsners. My favourite:
Furstenberg http://www.beersofeurope.co.uk/acata...nberg-pils.jpg Also a big fan of http://www.awag.de/Bildergallerie/In...offs%20No1.jpg but in general this stuff doesn't leave the Dortmund area. |
A bucket of mussels in Brussels and Hoegaarden to wash it all down.....now THAT's livin'!! ;)

My Father-in-law took up homebrewing about 3 years ago. We had some at my engine drop 2 weeks and he brought over a six pack of it today. This is a VERY good batch! Kind of like Bass ale. He made a Porter earlier this year that was kick-butt! I should make up some labels for him. Not for the bottles though, for the cartons.

There's nothing better than a homebrew!!!
|
Got a new fave
New Castle Brown Ale
England PROS: Smooth taste Not to heavy Easily available CONS: Requires an opener A bit pricey at nine a six Friends and family like them to, so they wont last long. |
It's relatively easy to brew a nice "Newcastle Brown Ale" clone!
|
Alaskan Amber and Newcastle are my current liquids. Laughed at Schlitz Malt. Remembering how my HS buds and I would wait outside liquor stores and hope for a "score". Hey it tasted bad then too, but we were only looking for the best buzz for the buck.
Invested a lot of my early bar drinking money on good ol Bud in a can. Still buy it occasionally. But my all time favorite beer is any beer that's free. :) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1155491184.jpg |

I like coors light and an occasional corona. Either I have no taste or I don't care about impressing anyone, maybe both ;)

a vote for yuengling porter, dark enough to blot out the sun.
also for old slugger, by the cooperstown brewers. [actually i believe it is being made by the saranac brewery in utica.] |
My current number one is Palmetto Brewing Company's (Charleston, SC) pale ale. It is lightly hoppy, with a smooth flavor and very good, crisp after taste. Really first class. Unfortunately, their Lager is, so far, really horrific, almost sour in flavor. I'm going to write them to find out if the lager has been handled improperly or something since it's quite odd for a company to have such dispartity among their products especially if they're both made in house.
http://charleston.citysearch.com/profile/9141398/ In California, I made Red Nectar my number one. Different that a Pale Ale, it was more of a fine Scottish Ale, with a less sweet after taste. The brewery was near Humbolt State University initially, I had the chance to visit the Brew Pub and restaurant; but is now located in Paso Robles, purchased by a beer enthusiast and moved completely. The beer changed somewhat, but is still very good. http://www.nectarales.com/ I seldom drink imported beer these days, beer doesn't get better with age, and most imports take too long to get to the consumer. Why waste time with them when so many excellent beers are being brewed in America these days. |
Constant staples: Bass/Guinness/Harp, Spaten, and Duvel.
When I can find them: St. Bernardus (Abt 12, & Grottenbier), Westmalle, Grimbergen, Orval. Special Occasions: Westvleteren 12 (St. Sixtus). |
Red Stripe
Fat Tire Homebrew |
There are so many good beers but for some reason I have spent the summer on a Pabst Blue Ribbon jag. Maybe it's the $5.00 twelve packs that appeals to me
