Phil Donahue gets spanked

Good stuff...He holds his own for being out of his mind, I will grant.

Bill O'Reilly

Moses 09-22-2005 06:20 AM

Compared to O'Reilly, Donahue appeared cerebral, calm and lucid. O'Reilly has further solidified his title as king of the arrogant anti-intellectual morons. What was that rant about his nephew all about? Theater? He's an idiot.

Shaun @ Tru6 09-22-2005 06:28 AM

Wow. I never thought much of Donahue, but man did he spank O'Reilly, on his own turf no less.

"There is no democracy without descent."

Truer words have never been said.

bryanthompson 09-22-2005 06:38 AM

hahaha!! keep talkin' donnie. he makes all liberals look like absolute retards. I hope he goes on every show he can find and says the exact same crap.

Shaun, don't you mean dissent?

There's no internet without spellcheck.

DaveE 09-22-2005 06:40 AM

Yes, O'Reilly is theatrical, but still a tool.

You didn't get the pun? Think about it for a moment.

speeder 09-22-2005 06:44 AM

Wow. I don't know who is dumber; BO for having him on the show to be owned by him, or you for pointing it out here. Thanks!

You mean Donahue. (?)

We I was a kid, Donahue had his show. I watched it critically. I was very intrigued by how he kept topics afloat. (Donahue and telivangilist . . . I would watch and think, 'wow' )

That O'Rielly segment says Donahue hasn't changed. He knows how to slippery-slope others possitions, and most of all he know how to play a trump-card of emotional response. ("for the children" . . ."send them to DIE" . . . bla, appeal to pity, bla) -- pure theater! He made a great living out of it.

DaveE 09-22-2005 06:58 AM

No, I meant O'Reilly...........

OK, a little vague I'll grant. the bush admin, in so many ways, is responsible for the decline in the democratic principles on which our Country was founded.

Now, your latter statement is even more vague...

bryanthompson 09-22-2005 07:07 AM

And talklikeapirate day was earlier this week, so I'm sure that's not the problem.

O'Reilly opened with a laundry-list of criticisms against tool-mom. Donahue responded with emotional appeals. (not rebutting any points raised by O'Reilly) . ..from there, they each talked over each other . . .each trying to demonstrate that they "care" more. -- that was the battle.

Pretty pointless, if you ask me.

You'll have to explain, too vague.

bryanthompson 09-22-2005 07:10 AM

This is turning into a cc thread fast. Someone, quick, define strawman.

Aaaaaaaaaand go.

O'Reilly attacks Sheehan's anti-war stand......Donahue say's it's her right, she lost a son, "You wouldn't send your son over there, would you, Billy?"......O'Reilly starts talking about how his nephew enlisted in the service and starts getting loud; "Don't attack my nephew; don't say anything bad about my nephew or I'll boot you out of here!" (I don't think O'reilly's nephew is also his son, but I don't know for sure where O'Reilly grew up). Very theatrical, tough guy Bill..........

island911 09-22-2005 07:29 AM

I'm not saying Bill O can't be theatrical. I'm just saying yoou're really missing WHO Phil Donahue is, and has been, if you don't know.

I suppose, that by ignoring Phil D's drama-performance, you could just be trying to marginalize Bill O . . . in a disingenuous sort of way. (dunno)

No I grew up watching Phil too. He's the original Oprah. But he doesn't masquerade as a journalist on a 'news' network.
