What if 250,000 people protested and nobody noticed?

There were antiwar protests over the weekend in Washington DC that attracted an estimated 250,000 people and got little mention in the "liberal media" and where it was mentioned, the numbers were variously underestimated. In some reports, the 200-400 pro-Bush supporters got equal weight in the stories.

I hope somebody can point out how a supposedly liberal media is using this to their advantage.

It made page A1 in my local paper...for two days in a row. The pro-war crowd didn't rate section A. And the police estimate is more like 100K. Not that you will believe those law-and-order neocons....

PS I notice that your signature indicates that the recession has ended, and now you are just trying to get back to your previous salary. Congratulations!

Well hell man, what did you use to count all of those people? Or am I to believe your estimate simply on something you read somewhere?

fintstone 09-27-2005 07:45 PM

Of the less than 100,000 that showed...probably a third were liberal reporters there to worship Cindy Sheehan...and at least half were probably just there to see the freak show.

Yep, read it in that most liberal of sources: Stars and Stripes.

Well, we've never "fully recovered" but we've been 'in recovery' for 4-1/2 years. So technically, we aren't in recession. O course, a couple more notches down in the Consumer Confidence index, and I'll have to reinstate the 'recession' mention in my sig.

You're looking at the height of a bubble as "normal". Yes, things were good then, but they were unsustainable. I'd rather have a little less, reliably, than a lot, precariously.

250,000?...Why lie?...100,000ish is quite a showing...A showing that gets much more press than the anti-abortion rallies in D.C. with similar numbers.

and near 2/3rds had to be aligned, one way or another, with the communist front groups who orchestrate this charade...Where else do they get their marching orders?...Where are the "peace" groups who denounce a majority of those who rally for communism at these events?...I suppose the enemy of their enemy is their friend (as communism is worse than fascism ever was, that is scaaaaary).

Reminds me of the 150,000 Mom March years ago.

We need nice, reasonable people like these plastered all over the news.

I bet there was some killer hackey-sack playing beforehand, though.

Not to mention smoking some of Canada's finest agricultural export.
