No, just learned from Nixon.

Nixon told his aides in the summer of 1971 that "anybody who wants to be an ambassador must at least give $250,000." One future American diplomat, whom Kalmbach informed about the cost, complained, "Isn't $250,000 an awful lot of money for Costa Rica?" She was happy, though, to pay $300,000 for Luxembourg.

Nixon did not sell arms technology for campaign cash to an imminent enemy...Nor did he sell pardons to corporate crooks and terrorists.

From a party who has a really wicked history of campaign finance violations, including taking money from the Chinese Military for top-secret ICBM technology, I find this play rather suspicious.

So, that is how you're going to rationalize DeLay's alleged crimes. I thought you guys were against crime. Why are you trying to let him off the hook? He should be held up as an example of how the Republicans are tough on crime. Even if it's one of your own guys.

Your complaint about a witch hunt sure reminds me of the Ken Starr witch hunt. Only now it's your turn. Enjoy. SmileWavy

"Nixon did not sell arms technology for campaign cash to an imminent enemy...Nor did he sell pardons to corporate crooks and terrorists."

And exactly who has been convicted of doing those?

It is all a witch hunt when Republicans are accused, and gospel when Democrats are accused.

Keep on spinning.

Maybe not. Who really knows? But Reagan did sell arms to Iran to fund contra rebels in Nicaragua to overthrow a legitimate government. Maybe not one Reagan wanted in power, but legitimate none the less.

Delay was recently quoted as saying, in effect "there's not 1 dollar out of 2.4 trillion we can cut out of the budget", so i'll be glad to see him go. He's a crook.

The D.A. Ronnie Earle is not a partisan hack, but I'm sure Delay will try all the standard victim lines and you right wing sheeple will buy it hook line and sinker.

as a sidenote, One of the guys who works in the DA's office on this case wanted to marry my daughter.

who said anything about letting him off the hook? the humor in all of this is how the kettle suddenly thinks it's justified in attempting to call the pot black

It's all just a vast left wing conspiracy.

By the way, whatever happened to the Smartest Woman in the World's own little campaign finance investigation?

Swept under the rug of course...nary a peep from the press...Easier to sweep it under the rug when nobody knows about it, you see.

Janet Reno didn't see fit for an Independent Counsel for Clinton's blatant fund-raising violations...Nice having political cronies in Justice.

The Sandinistas were anything but legitimate, in fact they were not allowing free elections, intimidating the opposition and trafficking drugs...Ever since Reagan aided the Contras, they have had a Democracy, and he freed the hostages in Iran...Pure brilliance.

So, sometimes deliberately thwarting Congress' specific decisions by using drug money to buy arms to help overthrow a government is "good works?" Kind of a "situational ethics" thing?

Oop. We're storry for blaspheming St Reagan.

Yo, your pants are on fire again.

In the United States, failure to resolve the crisis contributed to Ronald Reagan's defeat of Carter in the presidential election. After the election, with the assistance of Algerian intermediaries, successful negotiations began. On Jan. 20, 1981, the day of President Reagan's inauguration, the United States released almost $8 billion in Iranian assets and the hostages were freed after 444 days in Iranian detention; the agreement gave Iran immunity from lawsuits arising from the incident.

Nothing was done by the Reagen team.
