Tom Delay indicted in campain finance scheme
Just on the wire.
WASHINGTON - A Texas grand jury on Wednesday charged Rep. Tom DeLay and two political associates with conspiracy in a campaign finance scheme, an indictment that could force him to step down as House majority leader. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9507677/ Witch hunt or not? |
No, Delay's not a witch, he's a crook...........
|
bahahah 'witch hunt'...too funny...
Hopefully, Mr Ethics is about to become Mrs Ethics in the Big House. Total scumbag. |
The house of "Lil W" is finally coming down. Yea Hoooooooo.
|
I haven't been paying attention... what's this all about?

I do not live in Texas but I seem to remember that the great state of Penn and Rhode Island have their fair share of crooked elected representatives.
People who live in glass houses should not throw rocks or so I have heard... Also, Ronnie Earle is not actually impartial as well. He is a Democrat and has been after Delay for years now and has had more than enough time to indict him if he had evidence of any wrong doing. That said, he has also had a lot of time to cook up any evidence needed. Look here: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/03/04/60minutes/main678234.shtml JoeA |
I'll wait for the trial. Too many times what you first hear is not what is brought out in trial.

You are right. RI is the mobster state. Our beloved ex mayor is in a federal pen. The mob ran providence for 40+ years...there's no hiding that!
You fail to see the big difference. I take glee in Delay being called on the carpet because he is the one obsessed (politically/publicly, anyway) with ethics/morals etc (cough: Schiavo case) He's a f#cking hypocrite just like all the others, after all. In summary, when the god squad/morals/ethics squad f#ck up, it is especially delicious. |
From what I'v heard he is accused of using corporate donations (which can only be used for one thing or another) and used them for something else. Or they claim his campaign did, either way. Real nasty stuff indeed.

From a party who has a really wicked history of campaign finance violations, including taking money from the Chinese Military for top-secret ICBM technology, I find this play rather suspicious. |

As The Washington Post reported, last week Pelosi filed delinquent reports for three trips she herself accepted from outside sponsors. The biggie was a week-long 1999 trip to Taiwan, paid for by the Chinese National Association of Industry and Commerce. The tab for Pelosi and her husband: about $8,000.
snip And while Pelosi bashes GOP ethics, PoliticalMoneyLine, a data firm, crunched the numbers and found that in the last five years, Democrats took 3,458 privately funded junkets, while Republicans took 2,666. RealClearPolitics |

Nixon told his aides in the summer of 1971 that "anybody who wants to be an ambassador must at least give $250,000." One future American diplomat, whom Kalmbach informed about the cost, complained, "Isn't $250,000 an awful lot of money for Costa Rica?" She was happy, though, to pay $300,000 for Luxembourg. |

Give me a break... JoeA |
Nixon did not sell arms technology for campaign cash to an imminent enemy...Nor did he sell pardons to corporate crooks and terrorists.

Your complaint about a witch hunt sure reminds me of the Ken Starr witch hunt. Only now it's your turn. Enjoy. SmileWavy Dan |
"Nixon did not sell arms technology for campaign cash to an imminent enemy...Nor did he sell pardons to corporate crooks and terrorists."
And exactly who has been convicted of doing those? It is all a witch hunt when Republicans are accused, and gospel when Democrats are accused. Keep on spinning. |

Delay was recently quoted as saying, in effect "there's not 1 dollar out of 2.4 trillion we can cut out of the budget", so i'll be glad to see him go. He's a crook.
The D.A. Ronnie Earle is not a partisan hack, but I'm sure Delay will try all the standard victim lines and you right wing sheeple will buy it hook line and sinker. as a sidenote, One of the guys who works in the DA's office on this case wanted to marry my daughter. |

It's all just a vast left wing conspiracy.
By the way, whatever happened to the Smartest Woman in the World's own little campaign finance investigation? |

In the United States, failure to resolve the crisis contributed to Ronald Reagan's defeat of Carter in the presidential election. After the election, with the assistance of Algerian intermediaries, successful negotiations began. On Jan. 20, 1981, the day of President Reagan's inauguration, the United States released almost $8 billion in Iranian assets and the hostages were freed after 444 days in Iranian detention; the agreement gave Iran immunity from lawsuits arising from the incident. Nothing was done by the Reagen team. |
