I sure didn't think this was going to turn ugly. The woman honked me off. And what gets me is that she just walked away. No notice, nada!
She has been replaced. I think I got a good one this time. But then, I think that each time. Dan

Len is not converted. He's facetious.
In Washington State, unemployment benefits would not go to someone in this circumstance. Welfare benefits, maybe. but not the unemployment benefits that employers ultimately pay for. And rightly so. Folks who quit jobs are not entitled to those benefits. Those benefits go to workers who are laid off or fired, unless the employer can prove that the worker got themselves fired deliberately in order to get the benefits without the hastle of having to work (hard to prove). Len, if liberals actually thought like the caricatures you and the other neocons portray, then you'd be justified in dismissing them. If you were to acknowledge that they are actually reasonable, thinking people who happened to have a different viewpoint than you, then you'd have to respect their views and deal with them. As Dan says, there are unfortunate people in our society who need our help. And liberals go to bat for those people. I go to bat for them. This woman does not fall into that category. Except in caricaturizations.

Edit: Noticed you said "In Washington State" which may be different than Michigan but I doubt thewy would be less "worker" than us.

Even if she is entitled to some sort of benefits, she may change her tune after a while if/when she works out the benefits aren't much.
Of course, her job and the level of welfare paid could be very similar, in which case someone should correct me. That is definitely not the case here (our govt subsidises child care for working mothers).

28 days in three months? Our probationary period, you're not supposed to miss 1 day. She would've been gone long ago.
And yes, I do agree with you and with conservatives on this one.....I'm a pretty hard worker and I don't understand why others take such little pride in their work, in their capabilities. |

Sure. Carry the employee. Add the costs to the end product. Let the consumer realize they can buy the non-compassionate-child-labor version for 85% less. In turn have your company outsource all the decent paying jobs to Thailand. After all, those ex-employees can collect compassionate benefits form the government. When they want to know their benefit status they can call a help desk staffed in India. ...And we wonder why America can no longer compete.
