Favorite mother-in-law's lines

My mother has recently moved in with my family. She had a stroke, and while doing pretty well, can't be alone. My wife thought they would get on well but........

Anyway, this thread is dedicated to those wonderful barbs that mother in laws seem to have so readily at their disposal.

The other day my wife was driving my mother to the Doctor's office. My mother to my wife-

"I enjoy our conversations Ellen, but I still miss intelligent conversation with people."

There's plenty more where that came from.

Groan...sounds too much like my mother-in-law. That reminds me, I've yet to go pi$$ on her grave. Her heart was as black as a certain Audi wagon...

When my wife showed her mother the engagement ring, her mother slammed the door in her face.
Why?
Cause I'm a Yankee.

Bob, This might be your future.

Several years ago my Mother moved in with us. It lasted about a year before my wife gave me the ultimatum of either " She go's or I go " I think divorce was even mentioned

My wifes still here, and Mom went to visit my sister.

My mother can be EXTREMELY difficult to get along with....very opinionated and is generally not capable of biting her tongue. Years ago, in defense of my wife, the conversation went like this:

ME: "You're really being unduly hard on her. She's a wonderful girl....could have married anyone she pleased."

HER: "Too bad she didn't please anyone."

Twenty-five years later, we're still married and my mother is basically the same crumudgeon.

Really? That war was over a long time ago, tell her that you supported the confederate cause in your previous incarnations

They live in Danville, VA. Last capitol of the Confederacy, I'm told.
