Glad to see you're putting your PhD in infectious diseases to good use!

I'm taking it your PhD in infectious diseases affords you to determine otherwise that it is in fact a pandamic?

BlueSkyJaunte 10-13-2005 10:21 AM

Not yet.

But soon.

Nobody's saying it is a pandemic.

BTW, when my former house mate (now PhD in microbiology from MIT) is himself scared about this, well, I listen to the experts.

you are a dumbass!

When nothing happens, I am so gonna rub it in your face!

Take your Phd and shove it up your ass!

nostatic 10-14-2005 06:32 AM

hmm...well, I've got a phd in chemistry from caltech (actually worked on penicillin resistance mechanisms in grad school, hiv enzymes as a postdoc), and I'm not pleased about the odds on this one.

Stick your head in the sand if you want...think that it is a "media frenzy", but I'll just quietly prepare and work on my disaster prep project/start-up.

Wow, I guess we can anything in OT land now, this should be interesting!

Hey Slak, are you a UAW member?SmileWavy

This is a "when" rather than an "if". Kind of like earthquakes and hurricanes. It is coming - who knows when.. So as Bugs would say: "Keep your shirt on lady".

The problem is that has become the media crisis of the week. Soon to be replaced with another. We are not as prepared as we should/could be and will be caught off guard when it finally happens.

Slakjaw has a long history of frothing at the mouth and hurling his own poo when he's unable to formulate a coherent response. I take it as a positive sign that, indeed, my work is done here. :D

My best friend, is working on a PhD, He has never braged about it. his recearch is the most cited work in the recent journal of anamal behavior.

nostatic, has a PhD, Since I have been on this board he has never bragged about it.

I have a ton of respect for someone who worked hard enough to earn a PhD AND does not brag about it, or discount someone else because they lack that sheet of paper.

to me the facts just say that: YES, you should be prepaired, but there are other things that should worry you more than this. Because the chances that this will affect you and yours is quite slim.

And no, I am a contractor in a union company, the Union hates me. They want me gone.

Bluesky has a long history of being a ****head! and more or less thinking he is better than everyone else.

He comes to PP OT he posts and if you disagree with him, beware.

He also enjoys long walks on the beach, candle light dinners, and relaxing in front of the fire place after a long hard day of being better than everyone else.

Latest is that one flu variant did not respnd to treatment.....and....was passed on from brother to sister.

"Bird flu virus shows signs of evading newest drug

Reuters - 48 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - The feared avian influenza virus is showing signs it can evade the drug considered the first line of defense against bird flu, researchers said on Friday. They found so-called resistant strains in a Vietnamese girl who recovered from a bird flu infection after being treated with Tamiflu. They also found evidence she was directly infected by her brother and not by chickens, a rare case of human-to-human transmission of the virus...."

Well, no more making out with my sisters for me . . .

tcar 10-14-2005 01:08 PM

There have been several instances of Doctors and Nurses getting it, pretty reliably thought to be, from patients, not birds.

There have now been cases in Turkey and Russia.
