West Coast Pelicans watch NBC nightly news tonight.
Leading story about how the Bush interview w/soldiers today was totally scripted.
Nothing new, but interesting to see it on NBC as the lead story. They even show some woman acting as W. The trainwreck keeps getting worse. |

The emperor's new clothes are there for everyone to see.
The administration that positions itself as 'above public opinion' has spent nearly three times as much as the previous administration on public opinion polling. The RNC recently appointed an 'official blogger.' The RNC has a 400-person list for its talking points -- in many cases spreading transparently incorrect information to support its spin. The administration allowed a gay male prostitute extraordinary access to presidential press conferences (over legitimate journalists) because his blog was pro-Bush. Reporters asking too-tough questions are banned. The administration has paid radio commentators six-figure amounts to support administration programs without requiring them to reveal that they were compensated. It will only get worse as the approval rating dips below 40% again (2% among Blacks).

From another source than your's:
But are Bush's numbers really that bad? His current Real Clear Politics average stands at 41.7% approval. That is at or about the low point in nearly five years in office. How does it compare to other presidents' lowest poll ratings? Actually, it's not bad. Here are the low approval ratings for the last seven presidents: *Johnson: 35% *Nixon: 24% *Ford: 37% *Carter: 28% *Reagan: 35% *Bush I: 29% *Clinton: 37% Yes, that's right: Every president since 1963 has had approval ratings, at one time or another during his administration, at least five points lower than Bush's current nadir.

Since the media has been beating the drum of negativity, mercilessly, it is very difficult for me to accept statistics that measure image and idea exposure fabricated by the notoriously hostile press...The polls simply reflect the teaching.
You notice how the media is silent regarding Nagin, silent regarding the economy, silent regarding everything but al qaeda concocted propaganda in Iraq. Is it hard to understand that a majority of the public are TOLD what to believe?...Of course it is not. Evan Thomas even credited Kerry/Edwards numbers to the anti-Bush media drumbeat. |

Some interesting historical perspective. Most presidents seem to lose an average of 1/2 approval point per month in office.
