Gosh, on Friday afternoon I saw the most confident-looking, gorgeous brunette (*sigh*....) handling a mint 2002 Csi. I tried to throw my business card in as she went by but missed.

vash 10-17-2005 11:45 AM

litterbug! :D

Superman 10-17-2005 11:47 AM

It was for a good cause. You should have seen the brunette.

Good thing you missed Superman. Paper cuts suck :D

I have a friend that has 7 2002s including the one hanging rom the rafters of his shop. Seems someone got a little carried away acid dipping it.

I'll see if I can get Mike to post here

Yeah, I've got one - a 2002tii. Love it. They can rust (like an early 911) but are otherwise mechanically pretty simple. They go and stop pretty well for a 30 year old car too.

Mine's got a standard tii engine with a bigger exhaust, a 3.64 LSD and standard 4spd, vented discs at the front and the big drum (haha) upgrade at the back, slightly uprated suspension (soon to get full race treatment) and a fibreglass bonnet with the battery in the boot. And a roll cage, race seats and rally equipment.

Best (only) action shot - it broke a couple of stages after this (oil pump sprocket spun off) and I only recently got it going again.

(actually, it has all silver wheels and this is a photochop to see what it would look like if I painted the inside partly black).

I have had a bunch of 02/1602, great cars. I'm about to sell this one since I cannot deal w/ 2 project cars.

a 320i 5 spd with ltd slip diff + lightened flywheel is a nice upgrade for these cars.

throw in some webers, p&p head + schrick 284 cam and voila...who needs a tii! :)

Me too!! I have always wanted a 3.0 CSI as well...

Had a 2002 in high school. Very fond memories. 3.0CSi is my 2nd favorite car ever (after a 930).

There is a guy just outside of North Bend, WA that has at least 20 2002s on his property. It about an hour outside Seattle.

Here's the second of two I've worked on in my life, some of you may know this car from a certain magazine story back in $2002 ;)

It's floating around on the west coast now.
Prior to this I helped my brother-in-law restore one. Stock, they aren't all that exciting, I have to say. They get better quickly with a few modifications though. Parts are cheap, and not hard to get (except interior stuff). Durable engines, but the stock pistons don't much like 14lbs of boost. :D

What is the market like these days for the BMW 2002, can you find a really nice sorted car for 10K?

Michael

ddavidv 03-29-2006 06:29 PM

Depends on where you live, but yeah, 10k should buy you a pretty nice one.

1973911s 03-29-2006 06:39 PM

I am still in the dream stage, as I found out that I need a new roof today.
