Adobe Acrobat printing issue

Hi Guys,

There are a lot of bright computer people on this board so I was hoping that someone could help with an Adobe Acrobat printing problem

I have Acrobat 5 and Acrobat Reader 7 installed on my PC. I can print a PDF just fine in Acrobat 5, but when I print the same document in Reader 7, I get odd characters. I have attached a scan below. I guess it is some kind of font issue. Does anybody know how to fix it?

This problem also affects people in our office with Acrobat Reader 7 who have never had Acrobat 5 installed.

THanks,

hmmm.. thats an odd one.
I have seen issues with older readers displaying (or crashing) a doc made in a newer version but so far not the other way arround.
Is this on a Mac or PC? (just checked .. PC)..
Was reader 7 installed before or after the full acrobat 5?
Has reader 7 been patched? i think it's up to v7.0.3 now.
Was the PDF created as a text selectable or image PDF?
Can you test by viewing the doc on a PC that only has reader 7 installed?
My guess is that Acrobat 5 has installed some drivers / DLLs that reader 7 is using but is not compatable with.

Welcome to the land of the damned.

Acrobat is an ****** nightmare with printing. I work in an office with 10 perfectly capable network engineers and we have all but given up on troubleshooting Adobe crap. Its just too time consuming. I would suggest check for updated drivers for your printer. We currently have a 25k Toshiba combo printer/copier that has never work reliably with .pdfs files.

Sucks.

I haven't been able to print to our old workhorse HP 5SiMXPS since loading Acrobat 7. Sometimes a Postscript error message prints out, but usually, nada. It's a pain but fortunately there are other printers down the hall that work OK with it.
