pushing the boundaries of copyright: podcasting my favs

Just a rough mix, and I have to fix some things (hey its late and I gotta get up early), but you get the idea:

http://nostatic.com/podcasts/brandyCast.mp3

And yes, I take requests. Don't have to do them, but I'll take them

And no, I don't believe anyone necessarily cares what I think

Hey, I actually like that song. Haven't heard it in a long time. You ruined it with all that "talking over". Just kidding

I wonder if all musicians dissect songs like you do. I like songs that invoke emotions not necessarily because of the arrangement.

I didn't talk about the emotional aspect of that song...maybe in a revisted version. I did that with no script, just winged it. But I would offer that you likely are getting an emotion because of some element of the arrangement or chord structure, you just don't realize it. I know that I can usually pin down my visceral reactions to music to a few aspects, but you're right that there also is "something" that you can't quite pin down. This is pretty individual though...

Holy crap, nostatic, you have a voice built for radio, seriously.

Sorry, I'm done being nice.

thanks, I know that was painful for you

I've had this voice since I was 15...did some radio when I was 20, maybe I'll get back into it. With the impending job change I think I'm going to try and pick up some voiceover work.

If you can land it, voiceover work for training manuals/videos can be some easy, good money. My dad did a couple for Bosselmans/Blue Beacon back in the day, he said it was total cake.

ahh, I remember the days. I used to edit training slide shows back in the day. One of our clients was a mine up in North Dakota or someplace. These were instructions for operating haulers, shovels, etc. I used to spend about 24 hours at a pop editing the soundtracks, pulling out coughs, gulps, and the occasional "*****".

Missed a few though...not saying which.

I listen to audiobooks quite regularly in my car. My farthest customer account is 11 hours away (one-way) so I go through two-and-a-half books during that trip. It really annoys me when the narrator's voice is nasal or if he's too soft-spoken but not because it's the effect he was trying to create. I could listen to you Nostatic. Ever think about doing audiobooks?

If you could, I'd like to request some Ayn Rand first, followed by Rush: The Way it Ought to Be. And please, with feeling. I don't want to be able to hear your eyes rolling

I like NPR! All things considered, and Car Talk, two really good shows. Quit making me the bad guy, we have bush bashing threads for that!

NPR is pretty much the pinnacle of radio production. They are really good at immersive pieces. I'll take the NPR thing as a serious compliment.

And I will never mention Bush in a podcast.

hmm....maybe.

I would pay after-tax dollars to listen to Todd read the "This is John Galt Speaking" speech so I will NEVER have to read 60 continuous pages.

I won't even comment on the Limbaugh book except to say that reading him as a followup to her is like bringing a cheeseburger to a banquet.
