I see a pattern developing here

WooHoo!!!!

Check out the new stick....

Jeff Alexander Gemini Speed Freak. 6' 4" by 20 3/4" by 2 3/4". Hopefully it can support 235 lbs.
Actually it's a patented design...LOTS of work done by hand. Jeff shapes in Hawaii but comes back to San Diego about every 6-8 weeks to do some mainland boards. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow a.m. If all works out, it'll be accompanying me down to Costa Rica in a couple weeks.

Yeah man long boards rule. Luv the swallow tail too but what's with the scalloped nose? Is that functional or decorative?

I've got 9'6" Gordon & Smith old school. Weighs a ton!

That is one sweet board. I'll have to show this pic to my brother he is a hobby shaper.

I have a 9'6" Kai Nalu board. While that might not mean anything to any of you its a much sought after board in these parts. Its in pristine condition and fun to ride. The company is no longer in business. The owners, ahum, smoked all the profit and mismanaged the place into the ground. While in business they had a rabid following and all the locals snapped up these boards as fast as they were made. I was lucky to get this longboard AND a 5'9" fish. (Something you left coasters don't need)

I wish I had more time to go out.

...Uh...no they don't...@ 45, I'm still too young to ride a longboard. This shape allows me to ride the same length I rode 25 yrs ago. The theory is that chopping it down and making a picklefork nose makes it paddle like a 6' 10" and w/ all the channels and concaves makes it ride like a 5' 10".

If you look @ the 2nd picture, you can make out some of the work that goes into these boards. On the right side rail you can see the scallop called a sk8 deck. He puts a concave on the deck w/ the stringer being the lowest part on the deck.

I took it out this a.m. It paddles great, but it has a SMALL sweet spot...1" fore or aft and you're fighting it. It is indeed FAST! LOTS less work driving off the bottom and turns on a dime. Too small to shack today, but I think it'll be the ticket in head hi to head hi and a 1/2 surf.

You can find out more about them here

Hey!! I am 39 and still ride a short board. Its fun to ride a lond board too. They are fun to cruise on and great when your in a mellow mood. I have loved and rode long boards since I was a teen. Different ride, yes, but fun in a different
way.

I found this pic just now and thought of this thread. The long board also makes a good source of shade for the little guy when he needs a nap.
