Snowboarding Pre-season Excercises

I'm thinking...

-Squats
-Leg extensions
-Prone leg extensions
-Wall sits
-Stantionary bike/mountain biking

Maybe some calf work?

I have access to a large 24 hour fitness gym.

What was/is your routine?

Thanks.

Try this:

Stand as if you're on your board. Bend your knees, again like you're on the board. Roll forward from your heel to standing on the front of your foot & Toes. Hold a good 5 count. Now roll your feet backwards so that you are standing on your heels and lift your toes off the ground. Hold a five count. Repeat this 10 times to start. Do this daily as part of your workout routine. Double it every week until you can repeat it 100 times.

A slightly more adanced version: when you roll onto the front of your foot, claw your toes into the ground. When you roll onto your heel, try to stretch your toes upwards.

This simulates the standard carving balance.

Snowboards carve turns? WTF? I thought all they were good for was to scrap all the good snow off the surface.

You are doing well getting the legs ready, but you are forgetting some important points. One is abs they hold everything together start working them. When I was skiing for a ski team we spent 30 minutes a day working on abs. Try to work your lower back too. Get in some aerobic exercise too. Don't forget you will be at altitude when you snowboard so you want the lungs in tip top shape. And work the elbow for the post ski day drinking.

P-Car is parked so:
LET IT SNOW

I used to be a two planker... raced... back country...

Tried boardin' and never went back.

There's nothing like riding on top of waist deep powder. Ahhh...

Good point on the abs... I do that regularly during my routine workout plan, so I'm good on that one.

Keep the constructive feedback coming!

Drive a 38 year old Porsche to the slopes. The left leg will get a warm-up.

I've been pumped for snow for a few weeks now, can't wait for the season to start. Got my season pass to Kirkwood a few months back.

I've started playing soccer. The workout on my legs, abs, and cardio is fantastic. Im just too damned lazy to stick to an exercise routine.

LOL.

Or maybe sit in stop-and-go traffic for a couple hours.
