Ditto. I'm giving the credit to Yellowbird. That has to be the LeCar.

Not sure of the year, but yup, you got it. I have a real soft spot for these, and for LeCars in general. My first car was an 86 LeCar, paid $260 for it, and it had only 60 000 kms. It had the "big" engine... 1400cc.

next?

I think the Le Car was the Americanized anemic version of the Renault Turbo 2 pictured. Fantastic car. Fast!

I believe you can drive the LeCar in "Driver 3" on PS2. It's so much fun doing stunts and wrecking it. Muhahaaa.

Well, the LeCar was just a regular R5. And the US cars had 1.3 or 1.4l engines, whereas most of the european ones had 1000cc engines. Archer racing sold a lot of performance stuff for them back in the 80's... you could squeeze 90 hp out of the engine with headers, a decent cam and a side draft weber. That's what I did with mine. Quirky handling too... it was front wheel drive & mid-engined. Onlt FWD car I ever owned that wanted to oversteer.

The LeCar MAXI Turbo, R5 Turbo 2 was a different beast altogether... Rear wheel drive and mid engined. I think they were 180 HP out of the box, but have heard of 400-500 hp "grenade" engines.

Thats the prototype supercar that Alois Ruf announced a few years back. Mid engined 996TT powered, as I recall.

What ever became of that project?

Abarth Carrera.

My submission:

Hint #1: it is a one-off, one of a kind, so it probably doesn't count for this game...

Hint #2: it's not a Lexus! (See current Lexus thread...)

Yep.
Bonus question: where was the picture taken? (Hint: if you know the history of the creator, it should be a dead giveaway.)

It was taken at Lime Rock, in 2003. (September 12th). BUT it wasn't the Fall Vintage Festival, but a run-of-the-mill NNJR PCA DE that Mr. Fitch visited with his Phoenix.

Ha! I've stumped the Yellowbird!

(Ok, so he did get the car, year of the car, and location correct. And the right year the pic was taken. BUT THE WRONG VENUE! )
