Several days ago I made a post about 900 French cars biting the dust. That number was scoffed at here.

Here's the funny part I have not posted, so scoffers be warned.

As of last night, almost 325 people had been arrested. Thats almost 30 a night for the 9 nights.

Wow.

At that rate the Gendarmarie will almost have this thing under control by next Ramadan.

CC, I hope you do not include me in the `you guys`. Athough I am now thousands miles away, living a prosperous life in New-Jersey, I know the situation in my country very well. I went to middle school with these guys. They were always the ones stealing, fighting, and threateing the other kids.
And its not like they have no choice. In France, you can go to college for free, you can earn a phD for free. And if you are unempolyed, you get something like 1000 bucks a month, and very cheap lodging, and free healthcare. I see absolutely no excuse for these scumbags, and even less now that I live in the US. I can appreciate what was a given in France, and what people have to work hard to get here.

Ahh, I forgot you lived there Aurel. Like you didn't get enough ***** for that on this board, how could I forget. You certainly are qualified to comment.

Sidenote, we have an office there and I hold frequent teleconferences with a girl there, Anne Thomas, as well as meetings when she comes to the states. I'm hoping she's ok...I need to check on her tomorrow....

Question for you...you don't think they are discriminated against? They tout being pulled over all the time and hassled by the police...

Aurel 11-06-2005 03:05 PM

It is true that they are being discriminated against and being pulled over more. It is also true that they account for most of the crimes being commited. So, they have their responsibility in the way the authority deals with them. And the ones who want to succeed and integrate themselves do it. There are many such examples.

Geez, what did I start? LOL!

gaijindabe 11-07-2005 07:07 AM

They got their own little intifada going on over there. Wait till the bombs start going off..

Actually, I am not too excited. The French have a long history of revolution. You know, manning the barricades and all that clap-trap. This one though might really get out of hand..

Help me on this one. My friend sent me this link as to explain what's currently happening in France.

http://jewishworldreview.com/1105/steyn110705.php3

Basically, it says it's the beginning of WW3. Muslims are building up forces and resistance in Europe and all hell will break loose.

I responded with a less-than-fervent, "seems like the Watts riots in LA a few years ago; disenfranchised minorities are venting their frustration." He went berserk (as much as one can sense via email) and told be this was so way beyond obvious what was happening, that I didn't deserve his explanation because it would take too long to pull my head outa my arse (or words to that effect).

Whew. pretty heavy response from a friend (Jewish, btw).

So what am I missing here? If these are terrorists (well, maybe budding intifadaists), are they just practicing on inanimate objects like cars and buildings before moving on to livestock, humans and self-inflicted exploding? I understand there has been 1 fatality out of all the fire bombings so far, but not privey to the details. Is this the beginning of a holy jihad as my friend hyperventilates about or a societal symptom featuring more than a few pissed off people due to not having access to employment opportunities, bad schools, race descrimination, harassment from police, etc.?

Your friend is correct. It is a test of wills and they intend to wear the French down until they break. Of course they are not wholesale killing people. That would result in immediate action..by the French...or someone. It would also cause them to lose world support (they learned tactics from Arafat). Their attack is much more insidious than since they are too weak to triumph...now. After they do as much damage as physically possible and scare the hell out of the already spineless French government...They will be able to do as they please. The government will bow to every demand to prevent a similar, but more bloody infatada. Good strategy for fighting a war with limited resources/weaponry. Most government coups begin this way. Stop it cold now, or they never will.

Right now they are just vandals and rioters. They are not generally fundamentalists, in fact they are not calling this jihad. This is a disguntled Muslim youth immigrant thing. It may quickly become a religious conflict if the local Parisian Islamic power vacuum is filled by jihadists.

BOSH!

Here is the difference and why it won't happen in the US:

Hispanics, Muslims, Asians and all other immigrant groups to the US rapidly get caught up in being AMERICAN. THEY GO OUT AND MAKE MONEY.

Kinda hard to think about how "oppressed" you are when you are making some cash. Some may go blue collar: Running a landscaping service or gas station. But many are also white collar: Lots of Phds coming from India or Arab countries.

From what I gather, none of that happens in France. Most of the immigrants are on the gov't dole.

And idle hands....

Funny: I bought a French car once and got burned...
Maybe there just demanding better quality vehicles.
We should be doing that over here. ;)
