I just spoke to the wife and we are approved for transit.

CC, I highly reccomend against too cheap on the strip. It can be really nasty. I've even had good spots "Venezia Tower" turn out to be bad.

Nasty.

We had our wedding in Vegas. On one of our trips to setup the hotels for the guests, we stayed at the Mandalybay.

The 1st room, some one had thrown up and the mess in the carpet hadn't been cleaned.

2nd room had some big oily stain on the floor (Lube, did you stay there?). We then chatted with the hotel manager and explained we were planning the bookings for the wedding guests.

He moved us up to the Top floor, into a regular room. It was 'nice' but the room was no different than the others in the hotel, except double the price and marble counter in the bathroom. Nothing special.

We had stayed in 'The Venetian' the previous trip and made the decision right there to setup the Guests to stay in the Venetian. We also found a wonderful resturant in the Venetian to have the reception, so it really worked out.

I'm leaning towards 'slightly off the strip' but still in the $199/night region. Which, for a weekend, is not too expensive. Marriott or something, unless Mikey can come up with a better place! (hint-hint)

Bad News: no P-car :(

Trip is too long to drag the Blond. I'll just bring the Brunette!

cool_chick 01-31-2006 05:43 PM

You're saying the Excalibur is nasty too? Is the strip nasty?

I'm looking at flights now....wide open for me...

I have free Marriott stay, maybe I should go there too......

How would I get to the strip tho?

red-beard 01-31-2006 06:27 PM

It's Walking distance. Plus Taxi's are cheap!

red-beard 01-31-2006 07:41 PM

Here is the Vegas Map.

http://www.visitlasvegas.com/vegas/stay/planning-information/standard-maps.jsp?page=strip

Look on Flamingo Rd, near Paradise Rd (Right of the strip, 2 blocks east of Ceasar's palace, basically behind Bally's) there is a Marriot Residence Inn.

Residence Inn Las Vegas Hughes Center
370 Hughes Center Dr
Las Vegas , NV 89109

AAA Rate 161 per night - Std rate $179

red-beard 01-31-2006 07:44 PM

The Westin on the same road USD 184.00 for AAA

I have my room booked at the Orleans... I love Orleans and can gamble the night away after we do our thing...

:D

VINMAN 01-31-2006 08:58 PM

Well, got my flights booked!! Now just have to decide on the hotel....

red-beard 01-31-2006 09:02 PM

We are leaning towards the Westin behind the Barbary Coast.

VINMAN 01-31-2006 09:27 PM

Wifes not coming now , going solo , so luxury is not a necessity.
Most likely the Orleans.

jriera 02-01-2006 04:10 AM

If you want to consider a 15 minutes commute I will recommend the Green Valley Hotel-Casino, rooms from $250.

The Hooters Hotel is opening tomorrow :) right on Tropicana (the old San Remo) rooms from $96

Marriott and Westin are good choices. Check also the Embassy Suites in Paradise Rd (rooms from $150)

Superman 02-01-2006 07:08 AM

Will it be okay if I just wear regular men's clothes? I left my good dress in Eugene.

Superman 02-01-2006 07:26 AM

Someone please summarize. I will be in LV for a training immediately prior to these dates and I want to get a sense for where I will be at that time, versus where I will need to be in order to meet some of you. So.....

Where will this assemblage of passionate fruitcakes take place? Orleans?

Hey, if anybody is in town a day or two early, like I will be, drop me a line.

12own911 02-01-2006 03:15 PM

Hey Mike, can we have a list of who is going so far and where/when/what for the days in question? Please!!!

Thanks! :D
