One of my best friends was a Marine. We flew together for a while and I learned a new respect for the grunts I had called Jarheads for years. Just as we were becoming real friends I had some time off and he took a flight with another guy. They had a problem on takeoff and rode the ship down, crashing on the runway and killing both on board.
I miss Keith every day. Semper Fi my Friend! Joe A

MARINE PRAYER
Almighty Father , whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy will. Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow Marines, my loved ones and Thee without shame or fear. Protect my family. Give me the will to do the work of a Marine and to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm. Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance. Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the duties my country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me. Make me considerate of those committed to my leadership. Help me to wear my uniform with dignity, and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold. If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again. Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom by which I may understand the answer to my prayer. Semper Fi!...Watch over them and keep them safe LORD! |

Randy,
Thanks for remembering. As I told Randy once the USMC probably saved my life. I was a dumbass kid when I went in, and I came out changed, focused, all-in-all, for the better. The Marines are older than the United States, think about that one for a minute. Mull, what the Marines say is "Yeah tho I walk through the Valley of Death I will fear no evil, for I am the meanest Son of a bit(h in the Valley"

Randy and others.....Thank You. I did not serve in the armed forces and yeah, I'm a liberal. But that doesn't mean I don't value my freedom and it sure as he!! doesn't prevent me from admiring and appreciating the sacrifices and effectiveness of the men and women who did serve, and who are serving now. Again, my hat is off and my head is bowed low. thanks.
Oh, and if I had decided to serve, I might have followed in my father's footsteps and joined the Navy, but I'd rather have been a Marine for two reasons. First, they are the best and the toughest. Second, those dress blue uniforms are the sharpest in the world.

The Few
The Proud The Marines Semper Fi Rifleman's Creed THIS IS MY RIFLE There are many like it but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life. My rifle, without me is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than any enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will.... My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit... My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weakness, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will... Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but Peace........................ Marines' Hymn From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli, We fight our country's battles in the air, on land and sea. First to fight for right and freedom, and to keep our honor clean; We are proud to claim the title of United States Marine. Our flag's unfurled to every breeze from dawn to setting sun. We have fought in every clime and place, where we could take a gun. In the snow of far off northern lands and in sunny tropic scenes, You will find us always on the job,The United States Marines. Here's health to you and to our Corps which we are proud to serve. In many a strife we've fought for life and never lost our nerve. If the Army and the Navy ever look on heaven's scenes, they will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines.

Randy, Thanks for the note and also your service. Marines are great! Heres a pic of a future recon jarhead? Pic taken during our camping trip. Max is the one without the shirt, his best friend Connor by his side. He talks about being in the services or being a policeman. Honorable stuff.

Randy,
Funny you say that. A few adults commented that he always holds his shoulders back and head high. He looks you straight into the eyes and holds his gaze when your talking to him. I have actually seen him intimidate a few adults which is a sign he is well on his way to defend our country and our liberty! Whhoo Rhaa!

Mike,
You post here a lot about Max. That shows just how proud of him you really are. No doubt he's every bit as proud of you. You're doing a great job with your little man. With children like him in our present, our future is in good hands! Semper fi! Randy
