Y is how high it is, X is the run or how long it is so the only thing left is z in two dimensions. In 3+ dimensions Z takes on a new meaning.
In this equation, x is simply an unknown so the traditional definition doesn't pertain.

Holy *****, I really am an *********! My wife is right!

Heck this is simple find X it's right there on the long line on top. Duh-huh But the real question is, is X rising or falling? Or are we looking for Malcom X or Madam X or some spot marked as X?

Hey Lube your wife and mine must be sisters!

There is no X, like there is no spoon.

But there will always be Z.

I first laughed at the picture - really funny. Then I laughed at how everyone started posting pythagorean theorems (as the geeks here didn't already know it...) and laughed AGAIN when it turned into a phony philophical debate.

5/5 thumbs up.

The Z can take on many meanings so in a sense it is non-committal. The X and the Y are steadfast in there definition and determined to claim the proof.

True, Z is accommodating but far too flexible for use as a real variable but rather the stuff of fancy and fleece. Liberals use Z to broaden there claim to a proof but the conservative X and Y stand motionless against the onslaught of meaningless rhetoric, liable and slander that the liberal purveyors of Z will spin.

So I say on to you, from this day forth, let the word be heard that Z will only be used to exact the dimension where a X or a Y falls short. And if that day should come, may God have mercy on us all!

The angles are readily apparent to the casual observer. As any child who's memorized his sine tables will tell you, the sine(55) is about .8, which makes it an obvious choice for the first angle. The other angle has been left as an exercise for the reader.

SOHCAHTOA. That's a good memory aid for dealing with trig.

S: Sine
O: Opposite (divided by)
H: Hypotenuse

C: Cosine
A: Adjacent (divided by)
H: Hypotenuse

T: Tangent
O: Opposite (divided by)
A: Adjacent

Why did you have to remind me about math?
