Illinois Gun Laws
I don't own a gun. I have never owned a gun. What do I have to do in the state of Illinois to buy a gun. I did a Google search, and all I got was links to the Brady campaign...

Illinois is one of the most restrictive states, maybe more than California...
Illinois State Constitution Article I Sec. 22 Right to Arms Subject only to the police power, the right of the individual citizen to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

You can get a CCW in California - Difficult but possible. Not in Illinois. Chicago basically outlaws handguns, like SF was _trying_ to do.

You will need to acquire a Firearm Owners ID card(FOID card)
You will need the application - available anywhere that sells guns & probably on line thru Illinois State Police. You will need a passport size photo for the application. Fill it out, attach the photo, enclose check, send to Springfield & wait 6 weeks or so for the card. Longer if you have any arrests. (don't ask how I know) When card arrives, go buy gun & then pick it up after the waiting period.

What do you mean SF "WAS" tryig to do...THEY DID IT....The People said NO HANDGUNS or AMMO....
The PEOPLE of CA have spoken...they TURNED DOWN Arnolds iniatives for a Political seachange....They seem to LOVE whats happening in the Golden State....

I SO love being in a free state (for the most part)
One day, I walked into Academy, picked out a pistol I wanted filled out the form, got called in to NICS for the background check, passed, payed for the pistol and walked out with it. Took about 30 minutes from the moment I walked in to when I walked out. I LOVE IT!!

Wally world finally lowered the price of WWB 9mm to less than Acedemy. $4.64 for 50 rounds FMJ.
I'm taking a co-worker to the range this weekend. He's from Germany and of course would never get to shoot pistols over there. I'm taking the whole collection. Everything from .25 Colt Vest Pocket model to the big Springfield 1911, and everything inbetween.

Wow, if 50 go for $4.64 now, how much are the 100 round packs going for? Last time I bought some, they were $11 something. I need to pick up some ammo... we're having a range day at a nice range outside of Waco on Dec 17. I'll need some blasting fodder.

Yep, the box of 100 is $11.34
The sales guy (not too bright) asked my why I didn't buy the bigger box since I was buying 4 boxes of 50... Friggen .357sig is like $15 for 50...Why did I buy that barrel?
