Where to Stay in Miami?

I'm planing on spending this coming New Years Eve in Miami. Any recommendations on hotels? New Years events? Etc? Any places to stay away from?

The Delano is very, very nice. Expensive, but nice.

I stayed at Lowes, awesome place...

this will be the best vacation of your lifetime, I don't remember half the stuff, thank god for friends and pics, these remind me of the crazy time we had there...

South Beach.....never seen so many men walking little dogs....not that there is anything wrong with that. Hot women too, though and a LOT of clubs on the strip.

I stay at the Loews on South Beach. One of the best hotels I ever stay at. Not terribly expensive for what you get. Great pool and beach.

Never again. They sent my luggage to the airport with the wrong guest, left it on the curb, and offered no help in retreiving it.

I also pulled in, told the valet not to burry my car, we were leaving in 5 minutes. It took close to an hour to retrieve the car.

Had a blast at a bar called Mango's on Ocean....

I was just in Miami in September, we stayed in the Fairfield Marriott on 41st which was about 20 blocks from the start of South Beach. It was a nice place and $6-7 bucks each cab ride almost everywhere in South Beach. Both the Loews and the Delano were beautiful hotels but it all depends on income and how much time you plan on spending in the hotel.

I don't know if your into clubs but I would stay away from Mansion. Club looks nice on the inside however the hour wait to get in, the cover charge, the $200 minimum credit card transaction, the smoke all over the place and the additional VIP charge to get on the dance floor. A real waste of money in my opinion.

We were out most of the time except for a hurricane that messed up 2 days of our trip.

Whats your budget? So you want to be in the middle of the action or do you want to be away from it quiet and go to it.

I stayed in the Sheraton down there and it was VERY noisy inside and out at night. If you plan on being up all night then stay in South Beach if you want to sleep when you get back to the hotel then stay off of South Beach and take a cab.

When I stayed at Key Biscayne it was very quiet and only 15-20 minutes from South Beach. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton. If you spring for a club level room the concierge on that floor has some pull at the clubs in South Beach and can get your name on some lists to aviod the lines.
