Better than Grid Girls? How about women who can actually DRIVE!!
Oh sure, I suppose pics of nameless women standing around in tight pants and halter tops can be nice...(yawn)...if that's what you're in to...
![]() But what could be better than a woman who can actually do something? Maybe something really cool like...um...kick your sorry ass at the race track! Let's have a thread of hot race car drivers! (non-gender specific for those of varying orientations) So here's the deal: Posting pics is great but it isn't enough. You've gotta give a bio and explanation of her career and why she rocks your world. I'll start with, of course, Milka Duno... ![]() ![]() ![]() From her website... By education and training a Naval Engineer with four master’s degrees in Organizational Development, Naval Architecture, Maritime Business and Marine Biology. Milka earned the last three simultaneously. The first Latin American women driver ever to be classified "expert", Milka's professional driving career reaches new heights each year. She has participated in many international races and has driven a wide selection of race cars, including the Porsche Supercup, Ferrari Challenge 355, Formula 2000 Dodge, Reynard Dodge 98E, Panoz GT-RA, Dodge Viper GTS, Coloni Nissan CN1/C, and Reynard-Judd 01-Q, the Lola B2K/40/Judd, Dome S-101/Judd, Dallara AES/Nissan and the Panoz LMP07. As "Venezuelan Auto Racing Driver of the Year" in 2000 and "American Le Mans Series 2001 Vice Champion Driver" in the 675LMP class, Milka has attracted the attention of motorsport fans worldwide - and from influential people in the organizational and competitive areas of motorsport in the USA and Europe. 2001 also had Milka competing in a Dodge Viper in the legendary Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona - finishing 6th in class. She also drove the most famous sportscar race in the world - the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 2001 and 2002. In 2004, Miloka and co-driver Any Wallace drove to overall victory at the Grand Prix of Miami in the Howard Boss Motorsport #2 Pontiac Crawford Daytona Prototype. ![]()

Great idea for a thread, except that it'll have, like, three girls. Maybe two.

![]() From her website... Janet Guthrie is the first woman to earn a starting spot in the Indianapolis 500 (1977) and the Daytona 500 (1977), where she was Top Rookie. Her ninth-place finish in the Indianapolis 500 (1978), with a team she formed and managed herself, was the best by a woman until 2005. She set fastest time of day at Indianapolis on May 7 and May 22, 1977. In her brief career at the top levels of racing, she earned top-ten starting positions and posted top-ten finishes in both Indy-car Championship racing and in NASCAR Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup). Her fifth-place Indy-car finish at Milwaukee in 1979 was the best by a woman for 21 years. Her sixth-place Winston Cup finish at Bristol in 1977 remains the best by a woman in NASCAR’s superspeedway era. She is the only woman to lead a Winston Cup race. She was Top Rookie in five Winston Cup races. A graduate of the University of Michigan (B. Sc. in physics), she was formerly a flight instructor and an aerospace engineer. Her helmet and driver's suit are in the Smithsonian Institution. She is a charter member of the Women's Sports Foundation International Women's Sports Hall of Fame.

One more and then I've gotta go....I have a bunch more on my C: drive...but here is Jodie Kidd...
![]() ![]() British supermodel and official Maserati Trofeo driver Jodie Kidd won her first motor race, the Trofeo Vodafone Maserati, on Saturday, December 4th 2004 at the Motorshow in Bologna, Italy. The competition saw the debut of the 2005 Maserati Trofeo GranSport, the race car derived from the Maserati GranSport. The car will be used next year and derives from the road-going Gransport, which has been in dealerships since September. Both versions were on display at the Maserati stand at the Bologna fair (paddock 33), together with the road-spec MC12. The new Trofeo Gransport proved to perform extremely well, so much so that Lapo Elkann - Fiat Auto Brand Promotion Manager - could not resist trying it out on the motorshow track. He took advantage of a break in the race programme and his commitments at the Fiat stand to take a drive. Jodie Kidd - now nicknamed "Queen of the Rain" for her ability to drive very quickly even in unfavourable weather conditions - was just at her third race and together with her team mate Fabio Babini, FIA GT and official Pirelli driver, managed to beat the other participants, including Italian TV presenters Daniele Bossari and Fabrizio Frizzi. In the duel for third spot, the Massimo Torre and Umberto Scandalo duo prevailed. The two youngsters are the best of the crop of ACI/CSAI Supercorso drivers in the "Speed" and "Rally" sectors. The pair adapted well to the 425 bhp of the Gransport and beat off Fabrizio Frizzi/Andrea Palma - though the team included the continental champion, they were not helped by the rain. "It's great to finally see women get into motorsport, and Jodie is so passionate about cars that she could become a perfect ambassador for it" declared Lapo Elkann congratulating Jodie Kidd on her victory. The 26 year-old supermodel is the second woman that stepped out onto the top spot of the podium in a Maserati race. The first one was "5th Gear" TV presenter Vicki Butler-Henderson, who won the third round of the Trofeo Maserati Vodafone at Silverstone, on July 11th 2004. In the Fifties, another great woman raced for the Trident Marque: Maria Teresa De Filippis drove a Maserati 250F in the Formula One Championship. During her career, she collected numerous successes, including a record at the Catania-Enna hill-climb that remained unbeaten for three years. Maria Teresa De Filippis is now the Maserati Club President.

Jodie Kidd was a guest on 'Top Gear' once. She rocks. And she drove like a champ- in the 'Star in a reasonably priced car' skit. Very impressive all round.
Cheers, Paul.

One of my favorites is Lilian Bryner,
the first and only women ever to win the Porsche Cup. Earlier she was also on the Swiss Ski Team and the Swiss 3-Day Eventing Equestrian Team, so she knows a bit about speed.... ![]()
