As the title says, he stuck a sock in the oil fill tube as a temporary fix . . .

Saw a link to that posted on another forum. GEEZE, I've heard of people doing some stupid stuff!!

- heard of a kid with an SRT-4 that couldn't get the oil drain plug off, so he removed the oil filter and ran the engine until the oil had all sprayed out.

-heard of one guy with a Miata that had taken his intake off for some reason/work, and put a small box of BBs in it to weigh it down on his bench. He managed to reinstall it without noticing the box of BBs... ran the car, and ... you can imagine. I saw pics of it.. his heads, pistons and cylinders were trashed... BBs mashed and ground all over the place...

People do stupid things with cars...

looool, to fecking funny , seriously , i've driven miles without the oil cap on most of the cars i owned, .. halve the time you notice it at the next checkup and go like .. "i guess that explaines the puddles of oil!! " ...
