Last night, bell and I attended the wedding of one of my brothers. It was absolutely beautiful. The short ceremony took place at Sammy's Metropolitan Ballroom in Cleveland, OH and was followed by a fabulous night of drinks, dinner and dancing.
There was something else that made the night very special. Two of my brothers are local police officers here in Ohio, and a very close friend of theirs, Ryan, was involved in a horrible accident earlier this year. He was pinned in between his cruiser and a truck on I-71, and suffered severe injuries. Not only did he suffer head trauma, he also lost his leg. The Cleveland Plain Dealer wrote several articles on Ryan, and the press was there last night to photograph one of Ryan's goals...to walk down the aisle at my brothers wedding. He did it. And there weren't many dry eyes in the house... My mother called me this morning as asked if I had read the article. I jumped online to find the articles regarding Ryan, and I read something that I hadn't heard and it made me so freaking mad! The driver that hit him was only fined $550. ![]() How can that amount be justified?? |

wow whata touching time. congrats to your friend for his courage.
perhaps the system determined that an accident is only an accident ? was there any mailice? or DUI or just a bad accident ? i hve no idea on the details, if it was just really an accident should the other party be punished ? I am sure becasue there was an officer involved injury the case gots lots and lots of extra scrutiny.

I think that its safe to say, it cost the driver, that hit him, way more than the $550 fine.

Its hard for me to hear about situations like this, having 2 brothers that put their lives on the line every time they go to work. |
