Question about high lift cams and engine vacuum
My brother and I have been building a El Camino project for the last few years and we installed a high lift roller cam. Engine is a SBC 350 stroked to a 383 with a Holley 850 dual pump. He is currently a "guest" of the state and I want to get this thing dialed in for him for when he gets back.
We converted the car to disc brakes a few years back and it worked ok with the old cam, but now, it really takes some effort to get the power brakes to work well My brother is wondering if there is some sort of a vacuum reserve or pump we can install on there.. I've since painted the car primer black with red wheel centers and I've "obtained" some pneumatic shocks for the rear, been working with a tubing bender to make all the lines, and used a small compressor in the back under-bed compartment with a seperate battery and an alternator off of a 502 Cadillac. Amazing how cheap parts are for these things. ![]() Last edited by Jared at Pelican Parts; 11-28-2005 at 03:38 PM.. |

Vaccum canister between the booster and the intake manifold or carb(below the butterflies) is the answer.
Common item and cheap at summitracing.com

Thanks, just ordered one. Funny how this board can answer nearly any question.
