My project roller has gone missing

I was cleaning up around the yard, and moving stuff into my storage shed and my 73 912 roller body is now gone. Looks like someone did pull up with a truck or something - fat tire marks in the grass. Not sure when it happened, or WHY anyone would want an old 912 body that needs work. Its primer brown and the passenger side door area needs weld work. Totally stripped out, only had the rear tires on it, which I figured would deter people from trying to lift and move it.

Anyways, I am up in NH, if anyone hears or knows anything I would appreciate a shout. Either here, or you can email me at home - purwinc@adelphia.net

thanks

Charles

73 912??

Shaun @ Tru6 12-01-2005 07:30 AM

Have you checked under any large piles of leaves? I've heard 912's are partial to this habitat when hybernating in the winter.

juanbenae 12-01-2005 07:31 AM

i bet some kids down the block rolled it away and made a fort out of it. WAY better than any dumb treehouse...

john walker's workshop 12-01-2005 07:33 AM

didn't make many of those.

TerryBPP 12-01-2005 07:36 AM

Imagine what that yard looks like. None the less, Hope you find it.

PlaidLint 12-01-2005 07:59 AM

I might have borrowed it from you. If it's yours, don't worry, it is in safe hands. I will contact you offline about it.

Just to make sure we are talking about the same roller, does it look like this?

Tishabet 12-01-2005 08:13 AM

WTF!?!?!

widebody911 12-01-2005 08:23 AM

Is this the one that had the gas burners on it?

9dreizig 12-01-2005 08:23 AM

And THAT is why we need some zoning laws in NH. ( of course if we were down south it would be some guy with a camaro on blocks in his front yard so I guess we should be grateful LOL)

HWgeek 12-01-2005 08:27 AM

thanks for all the kind words guys :-)
Was it 77 they ressurected the 912? Hard to keep track of all that, never mind the roller itself!

PlaidLint - yea I look forward to your explaination as that does look like my baby alright. Start talking, cause I am not overly happy right now. (gee imagine that)

First the lint sale, now this. What the heck is going on around here?

MichiganMat 12-01-2005 09:43 AM

I smell troll.

speeder 12-01-2005 09:49 AM

Ya think?

pwd72s 12-01-2005 09:55 AM

A pair of trolls? Anybody here familiar with the breeding habits of trolls? Is there any birth control? Abortion clinic needed....

id10t 12-01-2005 10:22 AM

912E was '76, not 77.

Maybe Monster Garage came and got it?

HWgeek 12-01-2005 10:23 AM

I had it under a cover-it garage!! You couldn't even see it was blocked up or anything! Really I was high class!!!

But seriously, I went to lunch with Chris and some stuff came out, as I help him with his "IT" problems. He apparently can't email back this PlaidLint character, gets some sort of error 500. thought that was strange... One thing led to another and we corrolated that this PlaidLint above is apparently the same PlaidLint person who asked him about posting lint for sale...

Well my roller has magically appeared in Chris' driveway, and all he would tell me is that his wreck is missing. He actually wasn't sure if it was my roller.. go figure. as who would have such a beautful vehicle other than a worthy porsche enthusiast ???
<grin>

I lurk alot here, I think I may have signed up once with a different handle, but nowadays use HWgeek for all my online chatter... So just made a new account rather than try to guess my old one. So no, not a troll, etc etc...

So I am not too sure what to make of things myself, but I think I am going to ask around locally to see who can help move my car back, as I want it snug for the winter before snow builds up. And if any one has a lead on PlaidLint, let me know, would like to find out who this person is...

thanks

Charles

Hi I'm "Chris",
You may remember me from milk cartons or post office wanted posters. I have posted here a time or two.
Not a troll guys.

PlaidLint, I can get your emails but I can't send you any. I tried emailing via Pelican but I can't tell if that bounced either. Lemme know. I got the beverage you requested

Where's this going?

Wait, Lint sale? What did I miss now?

Rich76_911s 12-01-2005 10:48 AM

OVERHAULIN? ? ? ? You know Chip Foose' first experience painting was on a 356. Seriously though I have heard of pre galvinized cars just simply rusting into the ground, maybe that is what happened in your damp cool portion of New Hampshire. How about the woman of the house. Maybe she knew what this project would have done to your wallet and found a couple guys from New Jersey to come, "solve the problem."
