A1 Grand Prix..anyone catch it?

I was channel surfing lastnight and came across the new A1 racing series (a.k.a. The World Cup of Motorsport) on OLN.

For those who don't know it's a new Formula series that will take place over the winter months so it gives us Formula 1 junkies something to watch during the off season . All cars are built to the same specs so it's pretty much a drivers showcase....and it's country vs. country which is pretty cool. PLUS... and I think this is very cool...each car has a special 'power-boost' button, which allows drivers to gain an extra 30bhp for a few seconds. They are allotted 5 boosts per race.

The website is www.a1gp.com if you wanna check it out.

Didn't catch it (I don't think I get OLN), but the description of the cars and the boost button make it sound like Champ Cars.

I didn't realize champ cars had a boost option until you mentioned it.

Its pretty entertaining - the cars are all over the road by the end of the race once the tyres start going off.

Plus the New Zealand team isn't too bad.

Yep, it gives them an extra 50 HP by increasing boost.

It used to be called “Push to Pass” even though it’s used defensively as much as offensively. It got changed to “Power to pass” and now the announcers call it “Cosworth Power to Pass.” Gotta get that name in there. Next, it will be “Cosworth Power to Pass brought to you by Taco Bell.”

Bryan Herta and Phil Giebler are listed on the website. The race I watched lastnight was a replay of the Oct 9th race in Lausitz Germany and Scott Speed was driving...though he didnt finish.
