Who in LA's Gonna Pack Heat when they Kill Tookie?
Remember the LA Riots? I carried heat then. If they give him the needle next Wednesday morning at 12AM are you going to be prepared?

Ummm...the LA Riots spawned from a much different situation than an ex-gang member being found guilty in a court of law and given a lethal injection.
And anyway, you're supposed to carry heat when the Santa Ana winds pick up. That's when people get violent.

Agreed Dave but this is LA! I'm sure all those people who tossed cinderblocks from overpasses onto oncoming traffic (including my car), drug Reginald Denny out of his truck and smashed his head with another cinder block, and burned down those businesses and homes were all protesting the ruling in Simi Valley of not guilty for those 4 or 5 police officers who were found not guilty of the beating of Rodney King.
When I want to protest, I always burn down my own neighborhood!

Well, the fundamental differences are, as far as I know, these:
1) No whites involved, particularly white police officers. 2) No videotape to broadcast all over the air with which to incite people. 3) Some old black guy sitting on death row who a good percentage of younger, more apt-to-riot people don't recognize. 4) Crips aren't even in the news as much since they held a truce with the Bloods. 5) Tookie has been found guilty of murder and justifiably sentenced to death. What doesn't help is Chief Bratton getting on the news this morning, saying, "They should get rid of him!" Stupid, stupid, stupid. It helps when the chief keeps his mouth to himself. What also doesn't help is Tookie being touted for the Nobel Prize. C'mon! Great unrecognized humanists and luminaries are slaughtered daily and here they nominate a murderer... Also, black Hollywood should consider other icons to rally around other than a killer. That was just poor taste, and because of that poor taste, I don't think anyone is taking their effort seriously. But when it comes down to it, the main issues are no one really knows who Tookie is, he isn't getting publicity like Rodney King's situation, plus Tookie has been found guilty and sentenced appropriately. I'll be surprised if Schwarzenneger rules otherwise.

Dave, read the criteria for nomination for a Nobel Peace or Literature Prize, any college professor, anywhere can nominate these two, as opposed to biology, chemistry, physics, medicine which, I believe are members of the Academy only.

Yeah, I know. But it's the principle of it. What's next? Saddam's love poems winning the Nobel in Poetry?

Dave, you said "But" like I'm against the ultimate penalty. I'm completely the opposite. He's a multiple killer, he denies he did the crimes, yet all the evidence suggests he did it. Multiple appeals, all denied. The NAACP and other advocacy groups are holding him up as reformed (how can he be reformed if he never did it). I think its really, really disgusting that these organizations hold him out as a hero and yes, as a role model. No wonder the Black community in this country is in the state its in when people like Tookie are their role model. In south central LA (oops, were not supposed to call it south-central any more since that has a bad connotation, OK South LA), for their annual Kwanza celebration, Tookie is their Grand Marshal in absencia! What's up with that?

Well, the fundamental differences are, as far as I know, these:
1) No whites involved, particularly white police officers. Rebute. The Judge was white as was the prosecution and several members of the jury. 2) No videotape to broadcast all over the air with which to incite people. OK I'll give you that one but the Black Panthers are on this and they are a vocal group capable of influencing public reaction in communities where this is a big topic. 3) Some old black guy sitting on death row who a good percentage of younger, more apt-to-riot people don't recognize. Tookie has a much larger following than Rodney. 4) Crips aren't even in the news as much since they held a truce with the Bloods. Maybe not but I wouldn't call the Black Panthers a "low profile" org. 5) Tookie has been found guilty of murder and justifiably sentenced to death. Tookies case was NOT an open/shut case. The evidence was not with out challenge nor was the testomony of the prosecutions witness'.

Hugh - I was referring to the audacity of nominating Tookie for the Nobel Prize. That's what the "But" meant.

next wednesday? Hmm...the 10-day waiting on the p225 won't be over with, but the p226 is cleaned (with fresh MilComm grease), and i'll have another 2K rnds in the closet. So I've got 250rnds of 124g JHP and about 2500 of FMJ (half 115g, the other half 124g). And a softball bat. And two cats. With really sharp claws.
I think I'm ready... |

Agree with you, there is reason for concern. Todd, I thought you were a card-carrying liberal and you've got like 5,000 rounds, I'm coming over to your house. Oh wait, you live somewhere on the West Side, I'll stay up here in Santa Clarita. Reminder, go to Walmart, I'm down to my last 20 or 30 rounds of everythink.

I'm in the foothills above Sylmar. Nothing or no one up here to riot. I'm putting my Holloween game plan into effect though. I'll park the truck behind the house, turn off all the lights and pretend like no one is home.

Denis,
Need to add some gold and more "C" notes to the drawer and get a second passport. Also a "brick" of ammo is a good starting point. Hope you have something behind the door for longer range needs? Joe A

I hope you have some rubbers in that white envelope. In a community emergency there will be tons of hot chicks looking for a man to lead them to saftey.
