Lv Hotel Poll

OK...Sun Coast is Off Strip and is $90 sun thru thurs and $170 fri/sat

Orleans is $80/$120 and is several blocks off strip on Tropicana

Mandalay Bay is ON strip and is $110/$190

Rampart Marriott is alittle more than the SunCoast and is OFF strip as well

The best bets are Sun Coast or Mandaly Bay in my opinion

I will never ever stay in Mandalay Bay, again...the "deposit" left on the floor in our room by the previous guest was made me want to chuck it all, too...

On a more serious note... the strip is over-rated IMHO as a hotel destination IF you never been there and think you are going to actually go for a walk on the strip to enjoy the lights. The mega casinos are about a mile apart and not foot traffic friendly for the most part, I get the feeling they don't want you to take your money elsewhere.

tabs, what is the free shuttle situation at these hotels? Last time I was in L.V. they had a bus that would take you anywhere on the strip for a buck. Also most of the off strip hotels had shuttles that could take you to the strip.

When I go I stay downtown because I like to wander from casino to casino. I know you high rollers don't want to stay down there though.

The weekend before Thanksgiving we stayed at the Rio, which is owned by Harrah's. They have a shuttle to Harrah's every 20 minutes or so.

My wife got us a room on the 27th floor for $45/night on Sunday. It was $325 on Fri/Sat, so we stayed at Whiskey Pete's on the state line the previous night.

Just bring a couple bottles of Marker Mark and halfway through the second bottle challenge the boys to a friendly game of cards.

Had friends stay at the Rio and the room was nice... except for the porthole from the shower to the living room.

Oh yeah, the porthole. I thought it was pretty cool, but I'd have for a different room if we'd brought our daughter along as well.

Tabs, I know why you are asking this, but really, wouldn't it be better to move to the upper floors of the Intercontinental Hotel in Managua, Nicaragua?

How about the upper floor of the Diplomat in Baghdad? I just loved the plastic windows on the outside walls...

I vote for downtown, too. Wandering around outside with all the dives is fun. Lots of rooms, no worries about where to get together.

I stayed at the Nugget once... it was ok... The Lay is good but I love the machines at Orleans... I still owe them some money from previous winnings...
