Is terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi dead or alive? I keep reading different reports. Did you know that one year ago we had the guy and let him go by mistake? http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1134730525261&call_pageid=968332188492&col=968793972154&t=TS_Home

"I heard that Osama bin Laden died in the earthquake, and if that's the case, I certainly wouldn't wish anyone harm, but if that's the case, that's good for the world." -- Harry Reid (lead Bush basher) This didn't get a lot of coverage by the media, it fact it was absolutely ignored by the establishment media. | ||

Two obvious items come to mind to add uncertainty to this one, even for intelligence analysts with huge collections of available data: Issue #1: He looks like a lot of other guys. It isn't like he has a unique face that anyone would recognize "comin' through the rye." If we accidentally bumped him off, we might not even notice. If we had him in captivity and he gave the wrong name, we would very likely fall for it. Issue #2: If he were to die by some accident (whether Coalition Forces intentions or not), his followers would (potentially) do everything in their power to cover it up. Losing your leader is very bad for morale, and most folks probably don't see him around too much anyway. (Alternately, if the circumstances were glorious, his death would be hailed as that of a martyr, in which case we'd know about it immediately.)

If so, the world has lost a great humanitarian that should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
