HOLLYWOOD sign

Saw a show on Howard Hughes on maybe the History Channel a few days ago.

Was a pic of him and on the hill behind him was the
HOLLYWOOD sign, but I thought it had something like 'HILLS' maybe after Hollywood, in the same big letters.

Anyone know?

I read about that not long ago - it used be an advert for a new building estate or something. They removed the last word and only left what you see now. Which is only a replica. The real one sat in a shed for decades and (according to the article) is being sold letter by letter to rich folk with not alot else on their minds.....

...made infamous by a would-be starlet who jumped to her death from the 13th letter back in the 20s/30s.

Hollywoodland was behind the "Beechwood gates" and the first houses were all different 'fantasy' styles. IIRC, the development went bust,

Here's one to read.

The original Hollywood sign sold for $450,400 in an auction on eBay, its owner said.
