Question Paris Dakar on TV??

Last few years daily coverage of the Paris Dakar was on the Speed Channel....now, no more.

Where can I find the coverage, if at all?

Serves you right for getting your rally news from Fox's NASCAR page...

Gordon is currently in 69th place overall, almost 4 hours off the lead.

Sainz wins Dakar stage, retakes overall lead; Gordon has transmission trouble

Associated Press
Posted: 11 minutes ago

OUARZAZATE, Morocco (AP) - Robby Gordon, who entered the day in 8th place overall, suffered transmission failure during the fourth stage of the Dakar Rally and fell to 69th, three hours and 54 minutes behind the overall leader, Spain's Carlos Sainz

His team reports that Gordon was able to make the end of the special stage so he was still in the race although in 114th position for the day. Gordon and navigator Darren Skilton fixed were able to fix the transmission to make it to the finish line in seven hours and 44 minutes.
"There's little chance now for an overall win," Gordon said, "but if we can repair the transmission in time to start tomorrow, we can, and certainly will continue."

Spaniard Sainz sped to his third stage victory in four tries in the Dakar Rally and regained the overall lead Tuesday.

The Volkswagen driver was timed in 3 hours, 52 minutes, 48 seconds for the 240-mile stage between Er Rachidia and Ouarzazate. Thierry Magnaldi of France was 2 minutes behind, and compatriot Luc Alphand 3:10 back.

Overall, Sainz has a 4:51 lead over teammate Bruno Saby. Sainz wound up 12th Monday, dropping from first to fourth in the standings.

The Dakar race covers 5,619 miles on a route through 40 countries from Lisbon, Portugal, to the Senegalese capital

interesting that the Paris - Dakar Rally doesn't go to France. What'd they surrender the race to Portugal??

I heard that it's not called the Paris Dakar rally anymore, just the Dakar rally.

Kind of sad, several Touregs, but not a single Cayenne, got BMW's, Mercedes, Toyota's, Land Rovers, etc..., but not a single Porsche.

Seems like it would be a great place to showcase a Cayenne. Hell, if a BMW X3 can enter...

Porsche is not into taking risks anymore. It would suck for Porsche's SUV to be beaten by a VW SUV (that was probably designed by Porsche in the first place).

In the broader picture, now that companies own multiple marques I think they are hesistant to compete against themselves.

I'm not condeming them for the practice, just an observation.

Yep, I understand why, they don't want to compete unless they come out at or very, very near the top of the heap, but it's still kind of sad.
