So I was sitting in my cubicle today....

..and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.

I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch too, I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.

Len,
Doesn't sound like your personal outlook situation is too good. I would say, if the work scene is that bad, try to look for something else. Second, try to get some activity or interests outside of work that you can look forward to. That way the work part will be secondary, and you will sort of skip through it to get to what you really look forward to doing. Also, maybe you would benefit from talking to someone professional about your feelings about how life is going. You may be actually feeling that way bacause of something else in you life.
Good luck.

Marv,

It's just a funny quote from a movie that I know a lot of guys in here have seen. I'm actually doing ok but I appreciate the sentiment.

i heard pills are painless.

just kidding. really. eff it. i think i may have the most boring job on the planet. good god, i am a friggen civil engineer. not a job that pulls in the honeys. i dont get to wear cool clothing, eat fancy expensed lunches, travel, drive a fancy sedan just because i have clients. all the females in my office are nerdy girls with "great personalities". the guys are just nerds. 50% of them live with parents, i know what a moment resisting frame is, and i like it. get over it. and find a better life outside of work. like buy a porsche, and drink alot.

True to life OS moment:

I JUST got off the phone with a contractor from India who is temping as a project manager, guy calls me with some obscure process question and blathers on for 20 minutes - 20 MINUTES - repeating the same refrain over and over again that explains why he's in the situation he's currently in. He must have repeated it 9 or ten times.

This was at best, including pleasantries, a 90 second conversation of valuable conversation.

All I could think was that I had Milton on the other end of the line "...when I used to be closer to the window and I could look out and see the squirrels and they were married...."

Sounds like we are in the same club.

The trick is to be a developer/realestate agent/CE all in one. Then you get the fancy lunches, travel, and the sedan. Of course the only break you get is your 4 hours of sleep a night. <<<

If work sucks so bad, quit. Go do something else. If you don't you're a victim of your own choices and I can't say I've got much sympathy for ya.

I'm really surprised that some of you took him seriously.

Again, it's a quote, from a movie, that you need to see.

It's called Office Space.
