I did enjoy one shot of the Texas cheerleaders. Liked their outfits. Those chaps perfectly framing all those cute poopers inside the tight pants...:D Overall, yep...I still give the USC girls the edge in the looks dept. Superman & I are in rare agreement on this one. But, damn, ABC sure could have done a better job of girl shots. I mean JEEZE! More sideline shots of Leinart's father cheering his kid on than shots of cheerleaders??? Gimme a visually pleasing break...PLEASE! The game? It was what is was. And like all games, full of "couldas" and "shouldas" for the losing side.

News this morning is that the play reviewer's monitor went out just prior to Young's "knee down" play.
.
I like the kid's Humility and his free expressions of love for his family, team members, and coaching staff.
Also his relationship with "...the big guy up there." Simply refreshing. 'Hope he doesn't lose it in the NFL.
.
In an press interview this morning with David Thomas, Mack Brown, and a shy coaching staff member, Young talked about his love and caring for coach Brown.
He looked over at him and said something like, "And we can go fishing together anytime, babe."
.
In same interview, Mack Brown said that his entire def. secondary (5 players) will play in the NFL.
.
I heard more than once that coach Brown went through some personal changes re: the way he related to his players...apparently after heart to heart chats w/Young 'n a few players. Young said that coach Brown needed to better understand his players and their attitudes. 'Be interesting to know more about that.
.
Young is 6' 5", 233 lbs. That's a big dude!
.
Good game, I must say.

Not a bid football fan, but I really enjoyed watching the game. it wason at the gym so I continued watching it when I went home. No sense in the cheerleader debate. I've been to both locations and the women in Texas win hands down.

Maybe I'm incorrect, but wasn't it Texas' ball late in the 4th, 4th down and 8 to go. They kept it on the ground and only picked up 4 yards. But a facemask against SC keep them alive by advancing the ball 5 yards. Seems to me the facemask was the pivital call of the game and bone-head play of the day by SC.

The bone-head play of the day for SC was the lateral attempt by Bush at the end of a looooong run in the first half that almost certainly lost SC a score. As I said earlier, the highly-questionable incomplete pass ruling in the 4th quarter also cost SC big.

Now everybody that hasn't been watching the Big 12 all year knows what the hype is about with Young. Could he have played a better game? Now the question is, will he go pro? What a ballgame!

He has no class and is a typical University of Spoiled Childern athlete. I was impressed with the class that Mack Brown and every UT player I have seen say anything since the game.

Young will come back next year, but they are losing a lot of other guys. He is very tight with his coach, and if he said he will return, I have no doubt he will do so. SC will be tough again, I think they are getting the entire O line back, but the marquee guys are cashing in their chips.

They made bad calls to benefit both teams, those things seem to balance themselves out over time.

I turned the game off for awhile after the first quarter. So many gaffs it was frustrating to watch: Texas going for it on fourth and two at the 50? After the gamble backfires SC tries it themselves with a sneak from the Texas 20? Why not just kick the field goal and be grateful for a 10-0 lead? The Bush lateral was bad enough but the coaches were rolling the dice, too. The ref's don't review the Young lateral due to technical reasons yet all the guys in the box had to do was look at the TV replays. The hype and emotion surrounding the game maybe had a bigger effect than it should have on the decision making last night.

Seems like SC could have put a linebacker at the line of scrimmage to shadow Vince Young. He played an amazing game and deserved the MVP but did anyone notice how open his receivers appeared to be? Usually somebody open with no defender within 4-5 yards. Like shooting fish in a barrel for Young. SC showed the same porous defense against Fresno St. earlier this year. Texas did a fantastic job against Bush and have some great DB's too, forcing Leinart to have to thread the needle on several completions. Hats off to Texas. I guess I just expected a cleaner game though.

Best game ever, college or NFL (IMO), hands down!

And not just because I'm a Texas grad. My heart has never pounded as hard as it did on that 4th and 5 with a few seconds to go that ended in Vince Young's touchdown.

For you Aggies out there, this is probably the funniest t-shirt I've seen out there since the "Aggies Suck (front), but OU Swallows (reverse):"

Anyway, a great game for college football, tremendous win for the University of Texas, and the the state of Texas!

wrt cheerleaders....sorry, but I'll take the multi-ethnic USC squad over the "if it ain't blonde, we'll bleach it so" UT squad.

Is UT only white people? Well, except for the football players...

I would agree if the multi-ethnic USC chicks were attractive....but alas no:( So Texas wins by default.

nostatic 01-06-2006 12:22 PM

well, I'll take an average multi-ethnic over a bleached blonde, plenty of makeup "hottie" any day of the week.

but...to each their own :p

Pretty much my sentiments exactly.

Average and plain is fine, in fact give me girl next door average every day of the week! But cheerleaders shouldn't be ugly and some of those USC chicks took a fierce beating from the ugly stick. But if that's your thing;)

When choosing cheerleaders at universities in California, it's not legal to discriminate on the basis of physical attractiveness. It's officially known as "lookism"...:)

I shouldn't have to ask if your kidding....but I do.

Is Young that good, or was USC's defense that bad? It seemed as if the Trojans were playing a prevent defense through the entire game, but forgot (or didn't know of) Young's 160 or so yards against Michigan in the 2005 Rose Bowl, which Texas won. The blitz was nonexistent for the Trojans until the last handful of plays.

No, SC didn't show up for the game. At least their defensive playbook didn't show up.

As for Leinart = Leaf, I wouldn't be surprised. Former SC QB Carson Palmer, meanwhile, is taking the Bengals to the playoffs. But he's got class. I never thought as much about Leinart, especially with that "...we're the better team comment."

If you're the better team, why did you lose?

J L Cavazos 01-06-2006 02:51 PM

Young IS that good. I've seen him do it for the past two seasons. Usually the bigger the game, the better he plays.

I know you folks in California didn't get the opportunity to watch many Texas games, particularly Vince Young as a player throughout the year. Late game comebacks, clutch situations are what he thrives on. Just go back and watch last year's Rose Bowl and this year's game with Ohio State. He gets it done.

So it's understandable why most "experts" OUTSIDE of Texas (OK except Lee Corso), took USC. Those of us who watched Vince Young throughout the year just knew that if they didn't trip along the way, and they got into the Granddaddy of them all, Texas would come away with it, in the same dramatic fashion they had won those two other big games. Other games won the same way were the past two OK State games, last year's Kansas game (needing a touchdown, converging a 4th and 16 with less than a minute to play), last year's Texas Tech game, and this year's Texas A&M game.

Most experts outside of Texas picked Texas to win; Holtz was the largest voice of them all.

I had some weird feelings about this game as is, especially after seeing UCLA, Nortre Dame and Fresno give SC a hard time. And all that coming back in the second half crap for Leinart doesn't make for a well-balanced attack on the opponent.

All I really have to say about USC is sayonara to big winning seasons for a couple years. The program will change, particularly now that Lendale White is rumored to leave along with Bush and Leinart. Carroll supposedly has a big time QB in the wings, and a new r-back. So we'll see.

I would have to say the same about Texas if VY chooses to go pro. The thought really scares me since Texas has no big time QB waiting in the wing. Who knows, maybe Mack will land the best QB in HS. UT is solid in their r-back department though (Jamaal Charles/Ramonce Taylor, both Fr this year) The defense will also be a quesiton mark.

I don't think SC showed weaknesses this season. You've gotta remember that every opposing team will bring their A game to try and knock off the No. 1 team in college football. Watch Texas go through the same thing next year.
