I'm building a rigid, alternator shovel-based bobber as we speak.
It takes a lot of time. With the baby it takes even more time. Without guidance it's even more problematic. Visit the chopper sites and ask for help. You have to remember that the meatheads you see on TV have a shop full of lathes, mills, tube benders, grinders, drill presses, welders, torches, etc., plus experience and guys in the background who do all the work for them. With just a few handtools, a few small power tools, and a MAPP torch it's been a hell of a long process. The fabwork has been a major PITA. But it's been mostly fun despite that all. Be prepared to spend a lot of money unless you have lots of friends who troll swapmeets all the time, or you've got crazy fab skills and can turn a junkyard heap into a work of art. By the time I'm done I'll come in just under the cost of a new twinkie. Also new EPA regs mean you can build ONE bike in your lifetime unless you find someone with a mfgr's license to give you a VIN and title. Good luck with that... I'm nowhere near done but I'm already planning my next project. Either going to make a Trump-based long bike or chop the hell out of my old '78 CB750K.

Cool bike you've got. Looks like it will be quite the ride when its done.
I've got the equipment and fab skill to back it up. My problem is I know absolutely nothing about bikes and have ridden one only once or twice...

My son and I will do that sometime. We have the tubing bender and welder from adding stuff to landcruisers.
OCC is mostly just an assembler and do dad adder. I think most anyone who has rebuilt a Porsche engine could do as well.
