Do As I Say (Not As I Do) : Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy
Have you heard about this book?
The author gives a dozen examples of liberals who act different in their private lives than what they expouse in their public statements. Examples. Teddy Kennedy who advocates a 49% estate (death) tax has moved several hundred million of his families wealth to tax havens in Fiji. Kennedy also pays less taxes than a 17 year old working on minimum wage. Barbara Streisand who says were ruining the earth pays $20,000 water bills for irrigation of her estate in Malibu, and sh relocated a stream several hundred feet so that she could have a bigger contiguous front yard. Michael Moore holds stock in Boeing, Halliburton and other companys he bad mouths. Hillary says 13 and 14 year old girls are mature enough to decide on getting abortions without parental approval, yet she stopped Chelsea from getting her ears pierced at 15. I guess she knows whats best for her child and your child. |
Not surprising... Liberals usually get a free pass on hypocrisy because they control most of the forums for public discourse (Hollywood, Universities, most TV and news papers). Thankfully, the left hasn't found a way to neutralize talk radio or ban conservative books, but that doesn't mean they aren't trying. BTW, another example of liberal hypocrisy is Robert Redford's use of an "evil" SUV to explore off-road in the mountains... A conservative would be portrayed as "tearing up the environment".

This is not an "idealogic-specific" thing.....
Take for example Minister Lonnie Latham of the South Tulsa Baptist Church in Oklahoma. The reverend apparently thought he was "pastoring" to police when he was arrested for propositioning a male Oklahoma City Police officer. The ministry claim is puzzling when you consider that "Latham, who has spoken out against homosexuality, asked the officer to join him in his hotel room for oral sex." In fact, "He has also spoken out against same-sex marriage and in support of a Southern Baptist Convention directive urging its 42,000 churches to befriend gays and lesbians and try to convince them that they can become heterosexual 'if they accept Jesus Christ as their savior and reject their 'sinful, destructive lifestyle."' Well, mistakes do happen, but not many police officers get fellatio confused with preaching on behalf of Jesus. Latham has a family, and the South Tulsa Baptist Church was quick to put a note up on its website expressing their support for the minister and his loved ones. But BuzzFlash can only say that we've never read any religious tract that says you can find Christ through a blowjob. So, for that bizarre religious claim, we feel compelled to bestow the honor of the BuzzFlash GOP Hypocrite of the Week on Rev. Latham, in the category of perverse religiosity. Remember our motto at BuzzFlash.com: So many Republican hypocrites, so little time. Catch up with you soon http://www.gophypocrites.com/2006/01/hyp06001.html |

I've heard the others names once or twice before. |
So Hugh, got any documentation for those facts?

The best was that southern ca republican ousted recently.
|
Let's see... he is a Christian, a Southern Bapist at that. Must be a Republican. He has spoken out against homosexuality. Must be a Republican.
Those stereotypes say an awful lot about the people that perpetuate them. Nowhere do I see any reference to his political party affiliation. The clear inference from those within the Demcratic Party that support these stereotypes is that they feel there is no room in their party for anyone that holds those values. "We certainly don't hold them, so anybody that does must not be one of us" seems to be the attitude they present. Incredible for a "liberal" party that prides itself on inclusiveness. |

There is no such thing. "southern ca republican" really means "not liberal enough". |
Yes, you hit the nail on the head Jeff. Stereotypes, just like this original post support these stereotypes that millions of people are a "certain way" because of the actions of a couple.
Good job Jeff. You win the award for getting it! And what "liberal" party were you talking about? If you're talking about me, I didn't realize Libertarian is a "liberal" party..... |
Or Reagan saying the US will not deal with terrorists.
|
Or GW making campaign promises that he wouldn't do any nation building.

I call bull on all of them. In fact, it's pretty interesting that anyone would swallow these "facts,” indeed embrace them, not knowing anything about the source or the backup.
"Kennedy also pays less taxes than a 17 year old working on minimum wage." Get real. I've got one for you: "I'll be a uniter, not a divider." |

I think anyone of any ideology can be hypocritical... heck, I bet EVERYONE to some degree or another, is hypocritical.
However, with the not so long ago presidential elections... I can't recall how many times I saw or read about protesters protesting our President, and so called 'peace protesters' turn violent and riot. Heck down here in the small city of Austin, peace protesters had to be broken up and about a score arrested because they would NOT behave. I know several local cops, one of which was there. The protesters were told they could protest, as long as they did not obstruct traffic.... so what did they do? They tried to block off the Congress street bridge. I've seen video of conservative counterprotesters being assaulted, verbally and physically, by protesters outside of the RNC in '04. Sorry, but it does seem to be that many leftists are 'tolerant'... but only if you are of the same opinion. |
I tend to have an intolerence for intolerant people. Think every single person, "leftie", "rightie", purple, green, blah blah blah blah more useless "leftie/rightie" blah blah is not "tolerant" from time to time.

I know one person did, which, of course, is not representative of anything, let alone Democrats. It's like saying "talk about loonies, those republicans, Robertson said that Sharon's stroke was divine retribution." |
