Any vintage watch wearers / collectors?

I like watches but I cant justify a high dollar new one. I have quite a few low end knock around watches for everyday use but I'd like a few nicer vintage ones for special times. I have some older watches, an Omega, Tissot and Hamilton, but none in pristine shape. Im looking for a nice Omega Seamaster to wear. Any decent places to check out online besides ebay?

lots of places, but the prices for nice vintage watches aren't exactly bargain basement. There are a couple of guys here who know of good places to look for vintage watches, they'll post eventually.

Give me your email and i will send you my watch bookmarks. Good place to start is TimeZone.com.

Unlike the Porsche, vintage watches actually appreciate with time. A nice Omega Seamaster from the 60s is about $200 to $400 and a great watch to start with.

Buy it now cause they are not getting any cheaper. When i first started collecting Vintage watches, Old Breitling Navitimers were $700 to $900, now you could not touch them for under $1200.

Nice one, but it looks like it might have a refinished dial. Original dials typically have Swiss at 6 o'clock. Unless that is solid gold, $500 is too much.

Been wearing an old two tone Rolex GMT master since the mid-70. Expanded on the collection as possible. Still want a Omega Speedmaster "Moon Watch" but have not found a good deal yet.

Looking now for a auto winder for all these puppies but need one with at least 8 positions... The addiction has me bad!

Greatly overpriced, but the high quality and fantastic selection really lets you see what is out there.

I have got a few bargains off "poor mans watch form" sales corner.

As with buying anything on the internet buyer beware but I have not had any problems buying from the private parties there.

PMWF

I also have bought from these guys, they have a lot of vintage stuff:

Most of the Omega seamasters I have seen (I would like to have one too) are above your (and my) budget. YMMV

Always 'Buy the Seller'. References that can be checked and a 3-day inspection period are a standard practice when dealing with this stuff. Its not like the for sale forum here where people blindly send anyone with a registered user account money and cant figure out why they get ripped off occasionally.

I have an old (late 50's or early 60's I think) Seamaster and a restored ~68 Speedmaster Pro "Moon" watch. Love 'em, but for daily use I typically wear a ~96 "James Bond" Seamaster Pro as it's built like a tank and has a sapphire crystal. (The original moon watch has an acrylic crystal which scratches REALLY easily; I already replaced it once.) I really like Omega stuff but don't have the time or money to 'collect' these days.

Would love to get a Zenith or Rolex Daytona something along those lines, someday. Maybe the big 4-0 birthday later this year.

Cindy & I have some older stuff...40's and 50's. NOT waterproof like 60's and 70's, so we wear only on special times. Hamilton and Omega for her...I have an old Lord Elgin. Makes me wish we had a digital camera. Cindy's Hamilton is really pretty, diamond decorated...purchased new in 1957 for her mother as a gift from her father. Engraved on the back, so it will stay in her family. Had it appraised for insurance purposes. I had no idea old Hamiltons were so valuable! Maybe it was the diamonds?
