Unhappy Help, Just lost my Job!

Hey Guys,
Just as the title says I just lost my job. The company made the decision to restructure and decrease the organization's size by 2/3. Due to increased foreign competition, (Thanks Big Box-Mart), my position was basically outsourced with the rest of the organization...
Anyway, I am not posting for sympathy, but rather using this board as another resource in my never ending job-search.

My undergrad is in Chemistry and my Master's is in Business (MBA). So, if anyone has any connections or leads, please forward them on, it would be greatly appreciated.
Even if a local p-shop needs their floor swept, gimme a call.
Thanks, Guys.

Sorry to hear of your news. Check out usajobs.com. It's a long list of gov't job openings. You can search by location, which might be handy.
Probably not what you're looking for, but might pay the bills while you search for your dream job.
Good luck, and keep your head up!

JCC911,

Hello and I'm sorry to hear about your job, send me a resume if your interested in possibly relocating to California. We produce airbag initiators, LifeSparc, Inc., and may have an opportunity for you. Primarily your chemical background. I can't make any promises but I'm willing to give it a shot. I am the Engineering Manager for Manufacturing.

Best Regards,

Alex

JCC911,
sorry man, i am in the middle of going thru something very similar. my firm closed 2/3rds of the company just before christmas.
your state has unemployment insurance benefits. enroll right now, go there in person and make an appointment to see a counsiler. when a firm has massive lay-offs or virtually closes, you become eligible for many many benefits. my state might be different, but please please...look into this. look at it this way, its YOUR MONEY. you paid into all these programs, go get some of your $ back.
keep your chin up mate.
Kyle.

I just want to thank you all for your support, you guys are great, far beyond just being a bunch of gearheads

Thanks Alex, but I am currently obligated to this area, and unfortuantely can not relocate any time soon, but thank you very much for the offer.

I have recently been thinking about taking my career into a completely different direction and am thinking about openeing an insurance agency.
Are any of you pelicans an agent, if so, have any pointers or thoughts (please share pros and cons).
Thanks Again to all!

I have a client in Milwaukee that I visit often--I'm up for beers and a lunch on me if you'd like. The Ale House?

The only contacts I have in Milwaukee are all doctors, mostly working at Froedert. I think the only thing they could help with remotely are research jobs.

I understand you can't relocate at this time, however, if in the future.....

My understanding is APG is always looking for individuals/civilians w/your educational background..

good luck

Sounds like a topic for a new thread. There's very few jobs that we don't have at least one of on here. Sorry about your bad luck, it's sad that's the way our world seems to work. Hopefully in the end you will look back at your layoff as an opportunity to do something you really love.
